And end up losing the strokes i gained! Between that nonsense and not being able to remove the damned flag stick costing me more chip in birdies than I can even count, this game is not doing much to dispel the conspiracy theories about it being rigged against the player!

Click on the flag at the top right hand corner of the screen, next to the wind indicator... you'll find it removes the flag.

Meter freeze after a birdie?  Not even remotely related.  Maybe its your adrenaline on overdrive, excited from a great hole!

Secondly, you can remove the flag.

    Cheers,

    b0gey

What I don't understand is why people think Wgt has it in for them..I have know idea how many players there are on WGT now but it has to be in the 10's of thousands. Do people really believe Wgt picks them out of the thousands to punish for some reason?  To what purpose ???? My guess would be that Wgt wants you to do well... move up...play hard...buy new clubs...move up.. buy lots of balls. enter tournaments, Rg's and all the other games, make friends, have fun, ect......but that is just a guess.

Boomer, they don't need to pick you out of the 10s of thousands if they do it automatically in the software.  Have you ever read the Automatically Adapting Virtual Equipment Model  patent granted to WGT?  IF they have implemented it, even in part, they could be adapting the shot results (they mention sweet spot adjustment for example in the patent) based on a player's demonstrated increased/decreased skill level during a game.

    Auto Adapting VEM Patent:

    Abstract

Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for determining a user skill level for user interaction with virtual equipment in an interactive computer game. The virtual equipment is capable of being manipulated through user interaction with an associated representation. Automatically adapting a virtual equipment model associated with the virtual equipment to reflect the determined user skill level. The virtual equipment model governs how the virtual equipment behaves in response to user interaction with the representation.

Here is what the patent claims

    Auto Adapting VEM Patent:

    1. A computer-implemented method, comprising: receiving user input directed to manipulation of virtual equipment in an interactive computer game, the virtual equipment being manipulated through the user's interaction with an associated representation; determining a change in a user's skill level for interaction with the virtual equipment in response to the received user input; and adapting a virtual equipment model having one or more variables associated with the virtual equipment to reflect the determined change in user skill level, the virtual equipment model governing how the virtual equipment behaves in response to the user's interaction with the representation, and where the adapting comprises: if the change indicates that the user's skill level has increased, decreasing a sweet spot for a variable of the virtual equipment model; and if the change indicates that the user's skill level has decreased, increasing the sweet spot for the variable of the virtual equipment model, where the sweet spot is an area of a curve for the variable where the area is based on a degree of deviation from an ideal value for the variable.

In a nutshell, if the game detects you are getting worse, they make it easier.  If the game detects you are getting better, they make it harder.

For example, I recently was on the verge of scoring under the cut line at Congressional after weeks of trying every day.  I was -10 in the fairway at #18, 224 to the pin, 5mph gentle wind right to left.  I aimed safely well right of the pin at the center of the green. I used my trusty hybrid which I have hit on the green dozens of time from that fairway, never once in the water.  I dinged the shot and the ball flew left off the rough into the water. I did everything correctly.  Aimed safe.  Correct club.  Dinged shot. Ball in the water!    I was crushed.

Was I VEMed?  I was dinging everything, hitting fairways, hitting close, making putts.  For me, -10 was great.  3 or 4 shots better than prior scores.  Out of nowhere, perfect shot=ball in the water.  Makes me go hmmmm.

So Andy how do the better players avoid this...the Legends who's avg are under 60 and are shooting 54/55/56/57's at CCC. You and I are Legends and the best I have done is a 62 and I did that on my third try, have't got close since that try. Sorry about the water shot I would have been crushed also.

I remember when using the VEM word was like instant banning.. like talking about a popular cheat, and using the name...lol... I have wondered the same thing Andy, I've been a Master for to long and have been trying my bunnz off to rank up.. On St A's I Eagled on 1, Birdied on 2..Double Boggied on 3? easy 12 footer hit 14  perfect.. liped out.. (made the same shot 100 times)... rolled 4 feet?.. on boggie put back stopped 3 inches.. .. I have played these courses a few thousand times.. I know when it isn't right... .. like the clubbz I bought have 1/2 meter speed, but 90% of the time anymore the thingz are running full meter , I paid 6$ in rental feez before buying these clubbz, WGT needz to put a lil' Icon of a flame on the meter .. I counted meter freezes 16 times in 9 holes, and super meter 7 times... I renamed the Dove ballz Duck balls.. the first 3 I got headed streight to the water like they were born to it. not like a duck they sank..

    Be Safe Gentz...

So, would this also work with the 'random winds', I'I've found recently that its rare for me to get the wind behind on St Andy's 9 or 10, St Andys17 usually presents me with a headwind or cross right to left which pushes me into the rough/fescue, as I've got better does this game give me random winds which will give me more problems than when I wasn't so good?

I'm not complaining, as someone pointedly pointed out in a previous post (and thank you it was a most insightful and helpful comment) I should 'deal with it', I am 'dealing with it' but I'm curious about these things and like to question and have answers!

Just my thoughts, but I don't the guys carrying a sub 60 average have much interest in continuing a round if they start off with a bogey, or are say even par after 3 or 4 holes, so most likely they are restarting the round until they get off to a good start, or into a position where they feel they can score well.

I mean I've seen many of the top players with "WD" next to their name in a RG, so again, my guess is there's no "rush" in it for them to post 1 or 2 under par.
