we have a huge obstacle of a tree just in front of #4 tee box, I certainly have not seen that tree while watching the actual tournament. Same thing for #5, leaders just teed off on #5 and I surely did not see a tree anywhere in their line of flight.

Not sure either since they have played that hole from the distance that we are playing from.  Congressional does have many sets of tees and since WGT sets the tees in a very tight area, they may be using a portion of a tee box that the USGA didn't use this week.  Take a look at #10, there are 5 or 6 teeing areas that exist and they have used four different ones on this hole.

Pretty sure the #5 has been playing from forward tees. About #4, bollox called me in a 4am rant and was wondering where the tree was on #4.

In all seriousness, there are few possibilities

    1. when we photographed the course last year, tree was there and now it's not

    2. they are using different tees.

Thats the thing, as real as these courses play, some holes still play very different

I remember BP15, which was for a long time a bogey hole and now just becoming easier, but during US Open, it wasn't that bad. Obviously it had to do with us hitting 4iron-3w in the old days to the hole and pro's always 5iron or less.

Same with Congressional #4 - which right now likely is the hardest hole on WGT, but nowhere as hard as on real course

Thanks for the reply Icon. I think I found the issue with #4. I was viewing a flyover from USGA.com of the hole, and I DO see the tree in question, however, it's WAY left....Basically we're playing that hole from 20-30yds left of where the pros are teeing off, so there has to be a dif tee over there I couldn't see during the live coverage.

Yes, because he won last years, U.S Open, he spent this year walking with everyone at Congressional:)

WGT did an awesome job on 99.9% of congressional.  The only thing I would disagree with was that tree that is very much in play on #4 on WGT.  It was nowhere near being in play IRL unless you are a 30 handicapper.  The tree in question was as someone else said a good 20-30 yards out of the line of play.

Was really cool walking up to a hole and knowing exactly how the putt was going to break before the pro even hit it, especially on similar pin positions to those on WGT.

First off, so cool you got to go there for the fruits of your labor, congrats!

Watching the tourney today from 10:30am to about 4:30PM (PST) I got to see all the holes/greens/etc..and got to watch the Real Pros make the same shots at CCC that we try, I tell you...WGT did an excellent job mapping the greens and fairways and how the shots wind up.

I'm in awe of WGT's work.

The only so so thing I could see from a green stand point, was 18...I've had that putt Rory had (the one he left on top of the hill) and I can't recall who was in the group ahead of him...but for us (WGT'ers) its easy to leave a tapin, but as was obvious IRL...real tough to keep it with in 6 feet.

Okay, for BiB 6 feet is a Tapin, but for me still a knee knocker;)
