... because, 125 yards from the fairway to the hole. 19 mph backwind !!!! I take the 8 iron for 125 yards, hit the ball excellent. The cursed ball does not even fly 115 yards and ends up in the bunker. GREAT GAME

A tailwind can knock a wedge shot down, here and in real golf. This has been discussed many times in the forums.

Were trees blocking the wind or maybe a duck flew close to it changing the ball flight and distance?  lol you love it and hate it at the same time that is what makes it fun.

    To OP.

Or could it be the fact you have only played 3 ranked rounds and have low grade equipment/balls ? There are many variables to contend with that you have not encountered with your severe lack of experience. Get some proper game time in and start learning. Most of all have fun.

Think of it as a simulator, with game features instead :)

Yes, yes, lack of experience is probably your biggest hinderance.  Being new to the game, you have only just begun to see what's in store for the future. What your described, was what alot of people call a wtf shot.  Don't know what or why it happened, but it did, and it doesn't matter.  The result was that it did happen, question here is, how did you handle it? You said it was in the sand, we'll did you recover and save par?  If you did, then what did you do right, and if you didnt, what did you do wrong?  Did you learn anything?

These wtf shots are out there on every hole, just waiting to jump up and bite you!  It matters not if you have starter equipment , or the best there is on here, they happen. The difference is that better players learned how to cope and recover from them.  Don't get discouraged,  live and learn, but remember that no matter what awaits you on here, good bad or indifferent, this is called fun!  If you really want to have a great time, try playing in the clashs,  lol.  Good luck to you.

Make notes on every course and every hole. Same as real golf, holes play long and short.

A 19 MPH wind is 13 whether adding or subtracting at 125 yards. We all take notes on these holes, where to land your approach to green for example.

13 whether adding or subtracting? maybe I'm doing something wrong!

If they do, they have no idea what they are talking about.

@OP: The reason for that behavior was due to low trajectory shot played with low level equipment with wind on your back. If you didn't find the sand, you would have found plenty of roll and someone might have told you that is what a lot of people call a wtf shot ;)

115 yds carry seems o.k. for a Starter I8 (if it was before he got the other irons) - and we don't know of elevation yet!

It's always good to name the hole (and the spot, if it might matter) to receive better insight. A replay would be optimum!
