Also, just curious, but what/how does WGT "verfiy" a score?

No clue to TBH. I think they look at the game to see if code was altered or something unusual shows up in it.
They probably have captured game play and have a few people watch it to make sure no shadow people used a "footwedge" to get out of the rough.
