    My second shot is 175 yrds to the pin....I hit a shot that registers 177 yds.... which logic dictates.... should leave me with a 2 ft birdie attempt right? So how in the f**k do I end up with a 12 ft putt instead of a 2 footer?

    177 - 175 still equals 2 doesnt it?

    Shortest distance is a straight line at least it was when I went to school. Was your shot 2 yards directly behind the hole?

    If so your logic is correct. But if your shot was to either side is where your difference lies I think.

    Don`t no what the issue is here.

    I would be happy with a 12ft chance for bird from that distance using the clubs & balls you are using.

    Well.....does 1 + 1 = 2?  It's a real math problem and maybe your answer lies somewhere in the mysterious world of calculus ....

    The following example uses division by zero to "prove" that 2 = 1, but can be modified to prove that any number equals any other number.

    1. Let a and b be equal non-zero quantities

    a = b \,

    2. Multiply through by a

    a^2 = ab \,

    3. Subtract b^2 \,

    a^2 - b^2 = ab - b^2 \,

    4. Factor both sides

    (a - b)(a + b) = b(a - b) \,

    5. Divide out (a - b) \,

    a + b = b \,

    6. Observing that a = b \,

    b + b = b \,

    7. Combine like terms on the left

    2b = b \,

    8. Divide by the non-zero b

    2 = 1 \,

    Ok, Ok....I admit that makes no sense ....let's try this one out.....

    S=\sum_{k=1}^{\infin} k=1+2+3+4+\cdots \quad A=\sum_{k=1}^{\infin} k(-1)^{k+1}=1-2+3-4+\cdots.

    Therefore

    S-A=(1-1)+(2-(-2))+(3-3)+(4-(-4))+\cdots=4+8+12+16+\cdots=4S
    S+A=(1+1)+(2+(-2))+(3+3)+(4+(-4))+\cdots=2+6+10+14+\cdots=4S+(2+2+2+2+\cdots)\; .

    Adding these two equations gives

    2S = 8S + (2+2+2+2+\cdots)
    \Rightarrow S = -\left(\frac{1}{6}\right)(2+2+2+2+\cdots)\; .

    See, simple.

    Glad I could help.

    You're two yards away which = 6 feet. That's assuming you're on the perfect line. If you're left or right of the pin you'll be more than 6 feet.

    Smack your caddie with a 4 iron and he will be more careful about giving you bad advise.

    Since when does a yard equal a foot?

    Looks to me it left you exactly the right distance.

    I'll choose "D" not enough information. Like others have said, 2 yards = 6 Feet. So your shot went at least 6 feet past the hole. That doesn't necessarily mean you are exactly 6 feet away, it could of went 6 feet longer then the hole but 36 feet to the left of it...

    No Doubt about it. 1 yard = 3'-0" with the possible WGT exception rule whereas 1 yard can equal anywhere between 3'-0" to 5'-11" and 2 yards can equal anywhere between 3'-1" up to 8'-11" plus or minus with imparity.

    So there your problem, besides not knowing basic math.

    Have a nice day.
