Yeah, I don't think there was any transfer.

"WORLD GOLF TOUR does not recognize the transfer of your user accounts ("Accounts") or any virtual items contained therein. You may not purchase, sell, gift or trade any Account, or offer to purchase, sell, gift or trade any Account or virtual item contained therein, and any such attempt shall be null and void. WORLD GOLF TOUR owns, has licensed, or otherwise has rights to all of the content that appears in the games and on this Site. You agree that you have no right or title in or to any such content, including the virtual items or WGT Credits appearing or originating in the games, or any other attributes associated with the Account or stored on the Site. WORLD GOLF TOUR does not recognize any virtual property transfers executed outside of the games or the purported sale, gift or trade in the "real world" of anything related to the games. Accordingly, you may not sell virtual items for "real" money or otherwise exchange items for value outside of the games. If you purchase or otherwise receive any WGT Credits for your Account, you agree that you will not transfer such WGT Credit and that you will not use such WGT Credits to engage in gambling, gaming, lottery, or betting of any kind."

    HigherThanYall:
What you do is put credits on your Account...Then send a Email to support@worldgolftour.com and ask themto transfer the credits over to who ever you want ...

Ah... OK... the good, old-fashioned mid-1990s way... It's nice, I guess, that you're no longer supposed to send that request via registered snailmail.

    Doublemochaman:
Faterson... you can try that out with me.  Send me 1000 credits.  And I will send them back to you.

If you were Doublemochawoman rather than Doublemochaman (Soulcatcher has the right idea there), I'd happily gift you all the credits I have... which is four... but things being as they are, I'm afraid nothing can be done.

PS: Tibbets's long quotation is just another example of a company's Legal department trampling all over common sense & diminishing the company's revenues.

Looks to me like WGT has an attorney (or law firm) that's pretty good at crossing all the t's and dotting all the i's.  Though it does not make for exciting reading.  I could use them to lay out all the details in my next real-life skins game.

Sorry, it was the "You may not purchase, sell, gift or trade any Account, or offer to purchase, sell, gift or trade any Account or virtual item contained therein, and any such attempt shall be null and void ." part that makes it more than disclaimer B.S., it clearly states that you can't do it.

Yeah, but the point is WGT are needlessly depriving themselves of revenues that way.

I wouldn't permit the gifting of existing credits (such as those won in tournaments) either.

However, it's perfectly customary on web sites like Last.fm and hundreds of other well-run online businesses, to allow users to purchase subscriptions for someone else. Many newspapers' and magazines' websites offer the same thing ("gift subscriptions").

So, all that WGT needs to do is to insert a pop-up dialog with a question after a user presses the Purchase Credits button. The question would be: "Do you wish to purchase these credits for yourself or for another WGT user? If it is someone else, please fill in the name here."

That's it. There are no legal complications in this, no cheating or gambling possible, and WGT's cash flow would increase. It's mind-boggling why WGT don't allow this to happen.

That is the crux of the whole matter in my mind. That foils the double account holder.

If that is the rule I'm all for it.Klavír
