Rough - what effect does it have?

  Friends

  Is there somewhere an explanation re the different rough, how they affect how you should hit and what clubs to use? Like what does 1st and 2nd cut rough 20-25% lie mean? Or light brush 30-40% lie. 

  I am new to this so I have a hard time figuring out what to do when the ball is not in the fairway or on the green. It is quite a hit and miss so far as to this aspect of the game.

  There are several good charts avaible go over to SEARCH>>>>> on your right and enter rough or sand, then read.

  The short of the answer is that it depends on the club and will still be not 100% predictable. As is said above, a forum search is likely to provide you a starting point.
