THIS TOURNEY HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL A LATER DATE!
National Game Leagues Association (NGLA)
Sign-ups close October 25th
Regular Season begins November 1st
NGLAs begin January 2nd
NGLA Championship is January 17th
The NGLA:
The National Game Leagues Association (NGLA) is based on American college basketball. Each person who signs up must create a “college” team (examples: Duke Blue Devils, Michigan Wolverines, or even the London Londoners if you want) – the team must have a first name, which can be a place (Michigan) or a name/thing (Duke), and a nickname. This team will be placed in a conference of 8-16 teams based on the location of the player. Sign-ups close October 25th.
Schedules:
On the 28th, schedules will be made for each player. Every team will have a few non-conference games and a set number of conference games (varies between conferences). There will also be a few prestigious in-season tourneys that are invite-only – meaning that you can accept or decline the opportunity to play in these.
Regular Season:
The NGLA regular season will begin on November 1st, so that most major tournaments already running will have a chance to finish out, and more people will be available. Most teams will have 28-32 games to play in the regular season, and there will be two months to play those games. If you have a problem with a particular date, please let me know in advance! Preferably, let me know before the season starts, but it is not logical that everyone will know of conflicts that early. Games can be flexible, but there is a three-day window in which to play games if there is a conflict with the original date.
Rankings:
Every week there will be rankings that will be critical in determining teams and seeds for the NGLA Tournament. They will be based on recent and overall play in NGLA matches.
Postseason:
The NGLA Tournament (also known as the NGLAs) are a 33-team postseason tournament (with a play-in game) for all conference winners and a few at-large bids, which are picked by me based on season play, strength of schedule, and weekly rankings. The winner of this tournament is, effectively, the winner of the NGLAs: that person is the best player in NGLA. There is one other postseason tournament: the NGL Bubbles, for teams that were pretty good but did not make it into the NGLAs.
Games:
Each team has a home “court” (a 9-hole course that the player can choose themselves when they sign up). About half of each team’s games will be home and about half will be away. All games are 9-hole ranked rounds that must be completed. Games will not be played on home courts in regular-season and postseason tournaments.
Games Not Played:
If one game cannot be played for whatever reason until the last day of the three-day window allotted, and a game has already been scheduled for that day or the day before, the second game must be pushed back until after the first one. If a game is not played within that window because a player did not attempt to schedule a time, that player will receive a loss to the other. If a game is not played in the three-day window because of time conflicts but each player made an attempt to coordinate a time, then each player will receive a win.
Disconnections:
Any player who disconnects, be it on the first drive or the last putt, must post a loss in that game. However, before the first shot of the game is hit, if a player says he needs to reconnect because the game won’t load, a loss is not necessary.
Other Notes:
This will be a very exciting and talented tournament; all are welcome and all will have a fair chance at doing well! Thanks and good luck.
