if you subtract 20%of your calculated putting distance from each of your tournament speed greens, using the standard green speed scale., the distance of your putts will always be+3in.- +8in.  which is perfect.

    Example-     25ft. putt 6" uphill:   25 + 6=31ft.,       31 x .20=6.2,    31 - 6.2=24.8ft.

    another-        17ft. putt 7" downhill:  17 - 7=10ft.    10 x .20=2,       10 - 2=8ft.

This works so well for me on the tournament speed greens, that as a master, I I putt far superior on the tournament speed greens than my own very fast speed greens.

I guess I dont understand the pics or how this is accomplished when I draw back to putt my grid vanishes. Soon as I click to putt ...gone. Anyone else?

This is the default setting. In your game browser under Options, scroll down on the first screen to the Putting Grid option. If you turn it on the grid stays on all the time, even while you're putting. I like it this way but it causes the meter to stutter on some machines so be warned.  GL

@tap-Yes, if it works for you then it is a good idea. There is no concrete way to aim, you just have to learn from experience what it takes on the various speeds. The faster the green, the bigger the break.

Been playing for about 4 months and still have the same problem. I can't judge the "side-to -side" speeds of the putts. I can't figure out what the speed of the dots is telling me about how fast it is. I know faster is more break, but how much break=how much speed I can't get. I get "killed" on short -fast breaking putts almost every time because I can't seem to figure the break speed. Any help would be appreciated. :-(

Any tips on AIM rather than distance or is it a case of just putting the work in?

One thing you can do is slide the cursor along the rolling balls, like a golf ball launched from the putter, and see how far that takes you below the hole, then aim that much above the hole. This should be used as another check along with visual inspection from both angles.

If there is a double break, cancel out the rolling balls that are going in opposite directions at similar speeds and look at the balance left over.

sorry guess I'm dense but I don't see what you're getting at . I have tried putting it where the dot first apprears. I'm just not seeing it I guess. The putting meter speeds up at the very end too, not sure what's up with that. I t sure takes the "fun" out of the game.

For the Starter putter, does anyone know what the distance is for each grid square?  I'm curious.  Is it 2 feet / 3feet?  It would be good to know.

I was about to get on here this morning and gripe about the putting in a nice way until I read this forum post...now I am going to practice a little more.  I think what is frustrating is to have a very fast green and have my first putt wing the hole at a fast speed...then have an uphill and not hit it hard enough to reach....Just finished this weeks front 9 of SA and did that a couple times....but I do that in real life also..LOL  when someone asks me what my handicap is I always say putting..LOL  Thanks for an informative post.
