Club clashes: how do courses get assigned?

  Generally, there are 4, sometimes 3, courses on club clashes.  Is there a sequence or some algorigthm to predict. 

  I am asking for a reason.  In 11 matches in Clash #87, we had same course 4 times although there were 4 courses in play.

  I've heard here before that it is totally "random."

  However, we had 7 out of 11 at Erin and Bandon (low point places for us), only 2 at St. Andrews and only 1 at the most fun and most lucrative course -- Best of Par 5's.

  I am aware that our opponents in each clash round faced the same course.  I wish to point out though, that relative to other clubs (which we did NOT play) and placement on the overall leaderboard, clubs that play more of the courses that yield birdies and eagles and fewer of the (usually) harder courses like Bandon and Erin will do better on the leaderboard. Their birdies and eagles that put them in the top 10 of their Clash rounds get them the multiplier effect off of higher-point rounds.  For us, it is probably the difference between placing below 50th and placing above 50th.  Now that the custom course "glitch" is fixed though, that matters less, for sure, as the only difference is one course builder (and our level 19 club gets 5 free ones a month, so we have plenty of chances to make our own courses --- we used to want the extras from the Clash because of wanting to have new ones up more often, but that's not a concern now).

  What we play for now is a bit of community spirit for the most part --- and the chance for high-average and lower-tier members to pop in a long one from the fairway or on the green and get the rush of contributing those 300-point awards --- and, I might add, getting their names in lights in our running commentary about the Clash rounds.

  very badly done by WGT. it should really be all course get played once during a clash. keeps it fair as well then.

  not hard to do, just have a course for each 4 hour time slot. When you challenge a club, what ever time slot you are in you play that course. No one would play the same course twice and would help with keeping people interested. Playing the same course in a clash like 5 times in a row is stupid and its not hard to see why people dont play it along with other reasons to.

  Random course selection but I would like to see ...Cabo and Whistler in the mix.   Bit of a change maybe and give us all a christmas present   lol

  I had STA 7 games, Erin Hills two games and Bandon twice. BO5's 4 games

  In the 8 of BD's 11 matches I checked in on and played, we had 4 at Bandon, 2 at EH, and 1 each at BOP5 and St.A.  That's why I asked the question.

  Obviously, our specific opponent is playing the same course.

  But if some other clubs get 6 at St.A and BOP5 and 2 at Bandon and EH, that affects overall scoring. It's why I asked the question.

  If everyone had the same mix of courses, there is no beef.  And, if it is truly random and we just had bad luck this time, so it goes.  In that case, I suspect we benefitted in the past … but, lol, we tend to notice the bad stuff more.

  P.S. Clash participation is voluntary in Black Diamond GC.  But some of us enjoy it, and I second AKD's comments about community spirit and running chat among those who do participate.

  We always compare our courses to the G's and this was the difference this clash:

  That's from the best we can tell  while we still arent to their level, them getting BOP5 twice more than us and us getting Bandon BOP3 twice more makes it tough to compete at all which as you can see we didnt do a good job of this clash

  I have found that we don't get the same courses in the same clash. I check on the other players for that reason. The ones I really have a beef with, are when the opponent gets BO5's and I have to play Merion or Chambers. That has happened many times, I just log out

  Our club had a similar result with 5 Bandon including 4 in a row.  I would be in strong support of courses being assigned by time. I do not understand the benefits of random course selection, but i understand the disadvantages. (1) an unfair playing field   and (2) burnout on courses, 16 hours in a row of Bandon  was not enjoyable and memebers stopped playing .

  Nice work and thanks for the info.

  As I said above, my club has problem benefitted from good luck in the past; I just don't know it.

  So I guess we roll with punches with bad luck.  

  But I still would like to know how courses are assigned.
