Twice each day, early in the morning (6 A.M. Mountain Time), and again at the start of the new WGT day, an international, highly-skilled, talented, and select cadre of ChampionsGate members assemble, drink coffee, kvetch, and size up their golf skills for the day. Enough players regularly show up at both tee times that teams are developed, a course chosen, and then (hold my beer), they're off! Listen to the banter. "Good shot!" "Nice drive!" The unmistakable sound progression of "Ding! Thwack!" The ball flies true, hits its mark...the commentator comments, "That's in the garden spot!" The golfer sighs in relief! Approach shots are made. "Oh, you're gonna like that shot!" Some shorter. Some longer. Some shots taken by golfers who, I imagine, secretly wish for a mulligan. And then the putts! The applause! Wow! These folks know how to read a green! Get a birdie and you're off to the back of the bus! Man! For some, one game in the morning is enough. For others, a second game often ensues. The evening tee time is represented by even more members, and the banter continues in spirited, international sportsmanship and camaraderie. It's nuts! They just organize, like kids on a sandlot for a pick-up ballgame! And, they talk to each other! That's right! The members of ChampionsGate are talking....to each other...on Discord! Oh, the humanity!
