If the club is any good Bilbo, you won't be accepted on a request alone. Owners of good clubs have spent a lot of time and effort getting the club running well ie having active friendly members. I think your best bet is to post a wee message on their wall saying you'd like to join and why they should let you in. Sending them friend request is a good start as well.
Alternatively, you could always start your own club. It's bloody hard work to begin with but when (and if!) you make it successful it's a breeze . . . and very rewarding!
