... but maybe show me a pic of hitting into the wind at 5 oclock, and how it relates to the aim arc...
Okay... lol... it just so happens that I have just the thing you may be lookin' for. ;)
The approach to the 18th green at Kiawah seems to give alot of players "the creeps", especially when faced with what looks like a left-to-right wind. It used to drive me nuts until I started viewing the blue tracer... pre-shot. :/
Here's a view showing an "indication" of such a wind - this indicator arrow has many placing their target box well left of the optimum spot - leaving their shots short, and in the left rough (or worse yet, in the sand to the left of the green).
Note the path of the blue tracer and it's relativity to the wind indicator. They are virtually parallel. Without bringing-up that Aim Arc, one might assume (because of the camera angle) that the 18mph wind is at 5 o'clock, when it is actually blowing straight into the avatar's left ear.
I've placed the aimer directly on the hole, and in this next view you see the result of my (dinged) shot. I purposely "flew" the ball towards the pin (to factor-out any roll) and nearly hit the flag. If I'd hit it only slightly less firmly, the ball may have dropped straight into the cup. lol ;)
There was only negligible left-to-right movement of the ball during it's flight to the hole because the wind, as indicated by it's relationship to the tracer, was virtually a dead headwind.
Oh... and no need to thank me... thank Jim (the OP) and Lee for bringing this to light - a good while ago. :)
edit: click on the pics for better views. ;)
