It's a long time since you were a hack, Ace. It's all drive and chip from those tees.

you'll hear this addage more than once, 'driving is for show, putting is for dough'.  everyone can hit down the fairway off the drive, but putting is where you have a chance to excel.  do you need a better putter?  i've seen tour masters still using the starter clubs and beginner putter.  however, you will never see someone win a major with the basic clubs.

    hope this helps,

For the OP: all this advice is perfectly clear and consistent, isn't it?

Perhaps we forgot to look at your actual level and the equipment actually available to you now or very soon.

For example, if upgrading to a decent putter is a priority, that doesn't mean much if there is not a good putter available to you now. Views on the Spider (level 19) differ.

A good driver will become available to you in the form of the R11 (level 29).

Similarly, nice irons are available in the form of the Burner 2.0 (level 15).

For wedges you already have some cheap Satin's available from level 14, or you could hold out for the more expensive Clevelands, which start becoming available to you at level 26.

I asked myself the same question when i was new and went with the putter back then but unfortunately regretted that decision soon after I made it...

With many things to consider for your 'First Club to upgrade'  I believe the increased depth off the tee in the form of a better driver will always be the best advantage and pay the most dividends during the early stages of the WGT learning curve.

You use your irons more than anything else, especially if you play Blitz a lot. So I'd upgrade those first.

Next, putter... then wedges... then driver

Why did I put driver last? Cause it doesn't matter how far you hit the ball if you can't get on the green afterwards.

putter.  you will shave more strokes off your game with this vs. any other club, imo.  you don't really think it can make that big of a difference until you try it and realize how terrible the starter one is.

mlg2591- I noticed on your profile you use the EZ-Swing stuff, but what clubs you have switched out you went with the slower meter.

If you are getting burned by the meter and like the Raptures, might try to use a Ball that has more feel to slow the meter down.

And like what has been mentioned already as you level and lower your average, you will move up in Tiers. After Pro then Tour Pro you will need more distance just to get to the greens, more distance means a faster meter, better off to get the hang of the meter now or get burnt by it later.

Try to get away from the EZ-Swing stuff as fast as you can.

The 1st upgrade should be your 3 wood. I reccommend the Rapture. It will easily outdrive your starter driver and you can use it from the fairway as well Dont waste your money on mediocre drivers until your level allows you to purchase a decent one. I recommend the Rapture drive as well because it has a smooth swing and it will get the job done. Im a Master and I still have my Rapture 3 wood in my bag and wont part with it. Sure the new R11 hits 10 yards farther but you forsake dependable hits. Feel free to look up my clubs. BTW  i did buy the best putter recently, the Ghost, and I put my starter putter back in bag lol. My scoring avg is slightly over 64 and I do know what Im talking about...
