Mine sure as hell have, missing a ding slightly sends the ball way off line and a bit of back spin drops the ball 30 yards short.  I know they react differently to b/s than other irons but they weren't always this bad.  I went back to the Ping i15 a few days ago and my scores have dropped like a safe falling onto Wile E Coyote.

Seeing as there's apparently new gear coming soon I can't help wondering if these irons have been messed with to encourage everyone with them to buy a swanky new set.  If mine still played as well as they did when I first got them I would think twice about a different set, now I'm casting glances at the water beside #17 at Kiawah.

Has anyone else experienced this or do I just need some new tin foil in my hat?

Been that way since day 1. You miss, you pay. That's the price for what happens when you ding them.  :-)

According to the Pro Shop they have 2.5 dots of Forgiveness, but I think it is way less than that (maybe 1 dot ?) certainly a lot less than the G10 irons which have 2 dots.

Also some days the forgiveness seems to be zero, miss the ding by 1 pixel and the ball flies 15-20 yards wide of target instead of the 5-6 yards I would expect. Closing the game window and clearing the cache seems to set it back to 1 dot - till next time.

You don't do yourself justice if you bail on something because it controls you. Start playing by feel and learning your clubs this way and you'll be in control. Pick a CTTH and pound away at it. You get the same shots over and over and can see how your clubs react to your misses and dings; how they react to different spins in different winds. The key is being able to see immediate comparisons in a short period of time.

The Burners do forgive but you need to know how they forgive. They are not good clubs to aim by missing with but they don't kill you if you stay within the club's capabilities. Just learn what to expect.  :-)

Ya know Jim, that's the best reply to "we need a driving range"

My question is are the burner 2.0's a necessary uprade from the g10's, if you want to become legend and compete at that level?

No but they make it a lot easier to stop the ball from distance on greens. I've played against Legends with Rapture clubs.

At times my3,4,5 Irons seem to have a life of their own, either far too long or too short.

But I reckon I just need more practise and more experimenting with them.Although when you get it right with these Irons they are priceless.
