Looking at the Leaderboard on the most recent St. Andrews 18-hole open, I find it incomprehensible and unbelievable that the leader (from UK) posted a 57. That is 15 under Par. While not casting aspersions (as a Swiss Resident I have no financial interest), I cannot believe that this is possible without cheats.WGT would do well to investigate. St.Andrews, which I have played often, is by no means easy, also in reality for Tour Pros.

     What is going on here?

What is going on is that St. Andrews is one of first course here and folks play it over and over until they know where to hit the ball and what it will do after landing.

And don't forget scrambling and putting, that is where the scoring comes into play.

Not really my friend, I have shot a 57 there as well, once, a very long time ago and on a very, very, good day. Also, remember that you have heavy winds meaning that any tail wind is going to add a crap load of distance to a well placed tee shot with the R9 or R11 driver. 350 to 400 yards on a drive makes for a very easy birdie, eagle, or better, and as MS stated, these guys are GOOD! Make no mistake, they know how to kick a&&.

Kicking yours? LOL, I know they kick mine.

    Have a nice day.

If you catch the right winds every par 5 is reachable in 2. And there are 4 drivable par fours. So plenty of chances to score well.

Depending on your tier there are 9 drivable par 4's 1-3-6-7-9-10-12-16 and 18. I have driven them all at least once. But only 9-10 and 12 from the legend tees.

How do you drive the first without ending up in the water?

    Not sure about 1 either?

But I've been on 18 a few times from the Legend tees as well.

Here we go again, just because i cant do it it means no one else can either, and people are cheating if they can.  St Andrews is one of the easiest courses here once you get to know it, and in ready go's i score 60,59,58 quite frequent, have scored 57 a few times too.  Once you get god at this game, you'll feel an a55 for thinking such a thing.  Get practising rather than writing here accusing people of cheating.

Looking at your score history it seems you havn't got to grips with the game yet and score pretty poorly but that doesn't mean others cant do better, people are actually good at this game. keep practicing, and your scores will come down.

Trevor, I thought the same when I started, everybody probably does.  I can't even break par on Bethpage but last week I scored a 29 on Kiawah back nine so I now believe what seemed to be unbelievable before.  I got that score and I can't even putt decently - I was just "on" getting to the pin...anybody can make 3-foot putts!

It takes hand/eye coordination and a good day - even the masters aren't scoring that low every round.
