Man there's nothing like buying new irons and playing RGs! Sort of like how I taught my kids to swim. Just throw em in the deep end.

So is the 8 iron the psycho club in this set like the 3 iron was with the G10s? Full backspin 6mph wind in my face and it flies 144. But the next time I try that it goes 136 with about the same wind.

The PW, 9 and 8 have some screwed up yardages as far as clubs go IMO. If you can hit a PW 125 I guarantee you can hit a 9 about 140 and an 8 about 150-155.

It's almost like the 9 iron is non existent in this set. I rented these Monday night and then bought them after the rental period was over. I have quite a few hours with em so far and I honestly can't remember hitting the 9 iron now that I think about it.

You wait until the 4iron catches you out. Just hit mine 233yds out of 30-40% rough, into 15mph wind, 4ft uphill with no spin.

It only goes around 205yds from the fairway though so maybe i'll drive into the rough all the time...lol

Sorry to burst your bubble but the 2.0's are very accurate and reliable distance wise for me and have been for months now:)

Best irons sold here on WGT!

Before laying blame on your equipment, check every thing else carefully?

Taking notes is a great way to start  (IMHO)

I wasn't bashing the irons at all, Tony. I just need to get them dialed in. Same as any new iron.

I've seen many people complain about the 2.0s not being forgiving if you miss the ding. I can say without a doubt, if anyone would know I would, they are more forgiving when you miss than the G10s were. I've noticed it the most if you have a right to left wind and miss the ding early. The G10s would hook and keep hooking way offline. The 2.0s don't stray near as bad. Same thing on a left to right wind missing late.

I rented the 2.0s for a day before I bought them. The first 2 times I played BP I birdied #5. Held the green BOTH times with the 5 iron (190 yrd club). No way the G10 holds that green.

Still running mine in, but, with 8i,  I'm getting 142/3 full b/s, 146/7 half bs. I don't think I've hit a no spin or top spin shot.

Rule of thumb for me is half bs for the advertised distance, subtract 5 for full bs.

The 8i varies by those 2/3 yards from this ROT and the 6i goes the other way: 167/8 and 172/3. But 6i is also the (most) psycho club - needs some special understanding and TLC :)

Yeah they are definitely taking some getting used too. I just had a shot that was 132 yrds into a 9mph head wind on KIA #1. I hit a 9 iron didn't touch the spin and it landed at 134 and rolled to 137.

It almost seems that slight headwinds don't affect these lower irons as much. Maybe it's because of the height or something. They are going to take longer than expected to get mapped out for sure.

That same shot with the G10s would have been an 8 iron just a sliver off full power with full BS.

    at KI#1 that's 0 elev prob.

My current assumptions would have had me playing 9i half bs there: divide MPH by 3 (for the 9i and below) and add this as a % to dist: 132 + 3% (x 1.03) = 136.

I think the 7 and above get impeded by headwinds using a factor of 2 not 3: eg 10MPH = add 5%. Jury's still out on 8i, but think it is closer to 2 than 3.
