    flaccus:

    DarSum:
    132 yrds into a 9mph head wind

    at KI#1 that's 0 elev prob.

My current assumptions would have had me playing 9i half bs there: divide MPH by 3 (for the 9i and below) and add this as a % to dist: 132 + 3% (x 1.03) = 136.

I think the 7 and above get impeded by headwinds using a factor of 2 not 3: eg 10MPH = add 5%. Jury's still out on 8i, but think it is closer to 2 than 3.

I had it as 137 total. 132 to pin with 5 yrds added for the 9mph headwind. I'm just not familiar enough with these clubs to know how far that 9 was going to go with no bs full power. I'll get there eventually.

Where my shot ended up tells me the 9 iron, full power, no bs applied, no wind, will go 141 yrds. That's using your wind calculation.

What really throws me off is why or how I got 3 yrds of run out with a high trajectory 9 iron into a 9 mph wind. That has me a little concerned. I guess I need to start hitting these like I've hit every other iron I've played on here and use full backspin almost exclusively. I'll set my baseline from there and can start adding yardage to the clubs by removing backspin. I think I just had an epiphany.

    and use full backspin

I think no bs is a special circs shot with these clubs and will always react sensitively to what it hits on the green.

Suggest try half bs as default option - it seems to produce the advertised length more often than not and there is some control over run on. With callies (level 35+ red) Call Tour i(s) L43+, for me, half bs is top of ball just touching the tip of the V.

    Thank you sir.

EDIT AFTER A COUPLE PRACTICE ROUNDS: So far you are right on the money with the half bs being the correct distance for the clubs. Excluding the 8 iron that I've found to travel 150 at half bs and 145ish with full bs.

    Cool.

Interesting re 8i: mine is longer, but by a couple of yards, not 5:  142 full bs, 147 half bs.

edit: using Call Tour i(s) L43+

Yeah they are definitely taking some getting used too. I just had a shot that was 132 yrds into a 9mph head wind on KIA #1. I hit a 9 iron didn't touch the spin and it landed at 134 and rolled to 137.

It almost seems that slight headwinds don't affect these lower irons as much. Maybe it's because of the height or something. They are going to take longer than expected to get mapped out for sure.

That same shot with the G10s would have been an 8 iron just a sliver off full power with full BS.

I would play that shot without spin and take a full 9 iron.

Very sure that total distance would be closer to 133.

Difference is I use Tour_SD balls and you are using Calloway Z (Longer distance balls?)

Maybe the clubs are perfect but the many different types of ball available now can confuse distances?

I wished I knew how to tell what club set I have , then I would know ,if a tour starter set would be an improvement.
