First, I didn't realize that WGT gives you credits when you become a new tier!  W00t!  I like this.  This makes me do happy dance.

So, I find myself eying Pro tier so I can get the WGT Pro Driver that goes 245 yds.  Anyone have any comments on this particular club?  Also, does it come in pink or purple?  I can't see because it isn't open (yet).  I see that the meter speed is a little faster.. well, a good bit, but I look forward to the challenge.

I'm not too worried about irons yet, as I feel like I'm doing pretty good with those so far, and I don't see any irons down at my level that are going to give me that many more yards on approach.

I think that I'm doing pretty good on my putting considering everyone is telling me it is the hardest part of the game to learn, but everyone is also saying that the greens get harder to play when you get to other levels/tiers?  So.. which putter that is open or about to be open is better.. I'm looking at the spider and the anser ones.  I personally, looking at the specs, think the spider would be better, but I see more people using the anser (I think).. so is that one better?

Now.. avatars?  Do they give you some type of improvement?  Or are they just cute?  If there is no benefit, then I don't really see why I would want one.  Also.. why the hell can't I have the vodka team ones?  Is it a men's only club?  WOMEN LIKE VODKA TOO! :)

Last but not least.. I know I will need them, but how soon?  The ones from WGT starters frankly.. leave me struggling.  Are cleveland wedges really worth all the extra credits?  Looking, the specs are almost identical to the Z-Satins, other than the higher shot.  I know that IRL, Clevelands are the best, but here.. is there a large benefit?    I could buy like 3 Zs for the price of one!

Balls.. I like them in pink and purple and none of the expensive ones come in those colors.  Why not?? LOL.

    Suggestions?

    Argy

I'm a user of the pro driver.  As I'm sure you can imagine, the meter speed is quite frustrating at first, but I'm an advocate of getting used to it sooner rather than later.  As you progress in your career, the meter is not going to get any slower.

I also think that a wedge is a great investment, and many people argue over which is best to upgrade first.  As far as benefit to score, I would imagine being 20 yards closer to each hole off the tee would do it, but the driver is pretty straight forward.  If you were to get one wedge you would quickly learn to use it many different ways, and make it do many different things.  This could be more beneficial to your overall golf game.  Also, the wedges will last far longer than the pro driver would I imagine (as far as until your next upgrade goes).

If you were to upgrade, I think you would do well to get a ping or a z satin.  I love my cleveland, and haven't used either option but I doubt it is worth 3 times the price to be honest.

Ricky, thank you for your reply and sharing your experience.  I think I am going to hold out on getting to pro before I try upgrading anything, as I am not ruling out the Pro Driver as my first thing. You make a good point about the wedges lasting longer without needing to be upgraded, as it's something that I really hadn't focused much thought on.  Thanks again!

Update, after reading your post over again.. (and making it to Pro tier.. (happy dance)) I decided to go with the two Satin wedges from level 14.  Did a little practice run with them and am now confident that I made the right choice.  Thanks again for the feedback.

I think you made a good choice, lean those wedges and you will have them for a long time.

One benefit of not upgrading the driver right now is that you can wait till you move up to master. Once you are hitting from the longer tees, you simply upgrade the driver and will basically be hitting your approaches from the same distance you are used to.

Glad I could help.  Am I correct in assuming that the wedges are faster?  So you're getting an intro to the faster meter speed as well?

At level 32 the rapture v2 10.5 driver is available. It has a slow meter and a driving distance of 247.Something to consider if you have trouble with a faster meter. One thing to consider about the clevelands....you have to be careful about the backspin,an inexperienced player will have trouble controlling the extra backspin they offer, particularly with the calloways.  An after thought ,if you wait until level 47 and you like the slower meter the rapture driver here gives ya 255 yards.

I ended up landing a survey after several.. several.. several attempts and ended up getting the Pro Driver, mainly to get use to the faster meter speed on a driver, as I've noticed that the big boy drivers all have a lot faster meter speed.  It's a challenge, lol, that's for sure, but I rather be learning now from the Pro tier than trying to play catch up later down the road.  The level 47 Rapture is what my husband is currently using with some of the "feel" balls with XD.. seems to be working out well for him, at least as a Tour Pro.  Hopefully I can get the hang of this faster meter and be able to go from this to the Lvl 57 (I think) G10?  I think that would do me well even from Master for a while, am I correct in thinking that?

On the wedges:  I absolutely love the Satins, and I don't think I will ever be moving away from them, especially with the 3x price of the clevelands.  I will probably get 105 yrd Satin at some point and be happy with that for a good while.  I do far better with those than any of the other clubs that I have.

The irons.. I've learned just from talking with people that I've played that I will want high trajectory ones.  Again, I like the meter speed of the raptures, but the lvl 47, I think.. irons are topped off at 200 yards.  I would think that I would want at least a top of 210-215.

My main thing is that I don't want to be spending every time I see something new open up.  I want to stretch out what I have to the point that there is no other option but to upgrade or suffer loss after loss.  Hopefully I will be able to figure it all out and make a big jump over the mid range things.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback in this thread, as well as all the others.  I have learned so much just from taking some time and actually reading.

Yes, the faster wedges are taking some time to get use to, but I think in the end I rather learn them now than further down the road when I'm up against those that have it down pat.  Again, thank you so much for your suggestion and input!!

Argy, IMO you should get a better 3wood. Gives you more of a chance to use wedges on approaches 2 par5's, helps out in rough (SERIOUSLY) and makes more par4's reachable in 2. The meter of the G10's is slightly slower than the meter of the Pro driver you have, so I would buy this 3wood, drop the hybrid and get this wedge.

Using the 3wood punch out of rough is the favoured choice for all top players, as it gets more distance than doing the same with the hybrid. This will leave you a big yardage gap between your irons and 3wood - these irons have a 3iron of 195 yards. The sum of all of this comes to 960 credits, but it will cover you till a long way in Master tier.

In terms of putting, many people consider the Spider putter to be the worst in the game. Rent it on a weekend day, then play your socks off. If you like it, buy it. If not, 60 credits wasted.

All of this may seem like a lot of surveys - or you can pay the $9.60 ($14.20 with the Spider putter and rent). Pretty small investment considering you'll be covered for a very long time.

    I hope this helps,

    Tom
