Even with all the new wonderful courses, Kiawah has always been special to me lol  I ust played my best (9-hole) round of golf ever!  6-under on the back 9 of Kiawah.  My previous best was -3 I believe. Started out with a birdie and... an EAGLE.  3rd Eagle ever, but only 2 have counted since I got an eagle on a practice round.  Finished with a birdie on 17 and a par on 18. (18 almost always is a bogey for me).

    I heart Kiawah. Who's with me? :)

Yup. Kiawah is definitely up there for me.

Not too long (at the minute) unlike Congressional, Bethpage and at times Oakmont, but still presents a challenge along with a fun game of golf.

I feel it is a mix between the two types of courses we have on here - typical American style and typical Links.

Got my best 9-hole score there - a 31 on the front 9. Also got my joint best 18 hole round there - 67.

    Jack.

Wait until you reach Legend. Hitting a wood onto the par 3's may make you change your mind.

I am a long long long way from Legend.  I am still pretty far from Master even.

I actually played Kiawah from the Legend tees a week or two back. Made 80, thanks to my only birdie of the round at 17. Had to hit my driver off the tee, mind. And failed to reach several of the fairways off the tee.

Kiawah goes from a pretty tame course to a difficult one when you hit the Legend tier.  The greens at tournament speed are very difficult, nasty breaks around 5 or 6 holes.  The tees go back in some places over 100 yards from the master level, #13 I think is in another world.  Still one of my favorite courses but when you hit Legend it gets tough.  Same at St Andrews, goes from the easiest course to difficult, try playing 17 from 515 with a 30 mph wind into you, greens are not as tough as Kiawah but tough at that speed.  BPB becomes the easiest course in the rotation.

Kiawah is a course I've tried to avoid since hitting Legend. It's hundreds of yards longer and the greens make it downright nasty. I can still shoot <63 consistently, but it takes quite a bit of effort on my part.

There's not many bogey holes there, but it's sure not easy to come across birdies.

Definitely the WORST green mapping, and possibly the worst for incorrect distances.

Great course for "hit and hope"....
