I've seen replays that people have posted where they can easily land the ball and give it 3-4 yds BS.  I have never managed any kind of BS on a ball, even when I give it full BS using my wedges.  What am I doing wrong?

I use either Callaway i(s) or (z) balls, and the Z Satin 54 and 60 deg. wedges.  My irons are the K15 set.  Am I doing something wrong, or are my wedges just not good enough to provide backspin?  I can stop the ball on a dime sometimes, but it NEVER spins back.

    Cheers for any help :)

Good point, i'd actually forgot I had them for so long lol.  What's the best wedges to get at my level?  The PING Tour W 64 and 54 deg. wedges?  They seem to give the greatest degree of flexibility as far as range is concerned combined with my irons, but are they decent wedges?  I'm stuck 'til lvl 60 in terms of getting better clubs than what is on offer...

Personally i would go for the satins, only my prefrence as thats what i used in the past, your bag wedge is 105 yards so go for the 98 and 77 yard wedges to go with the 50 yard satin you have already. gl

Take SPINO's advice.  I get backup with the suckers above.

Be careful what you wish for.

With the best wedges and Calls you have to just dab the bs, and often be neutral or add ts.

Quite often you can add generous back spin only to see the ball land inches from thhole and roll back 3yards away. Then miss the putt. LOL

I've seen this a lot.  I much prefer to have wedges that stop, rather than hit rewind on the green.  The roll looks nice, but in the end, it's much easier for me to learn to judge where to land the ball, not having to take into account for the break of the green that I will be rolling back into.. but that's just me.

I must say landing next to the hole and backing up 3' is much better than using full backspin, landing next to the hole and rolling another 29'.

Just seen this thread again.  I ended up going with 3 wedges in my bag, the 50yd Z Satin, and 75 and 90yd CG16s, all of which provide great control on the greens.  More often than not, i'm landing my ball 2-3yds from the hole.

The Z Satin is more precise, but the distance to pin has to be watched carefully before applying BS.  I have shot full strength at holes 45yds away, landed 2 yds short and spun back to about 5 yds away.  If i'm within 50yds, I don't touch the spin on the ball now.

    Thanks for the advice everyone.
