I just completed a round of 36 on the back 9 of Kiawah in a ranked round with 13 shots from the sand....2 on 10, 3 on 11, 1 on 12, 1 on 14, 1 on 15, 3 on 16, 1 on 17, 1 on 18. No award was given. My awards weren't even updated beyond the Tin Day At The Beach. Have a look and see if the award is registering correctly, it was a royal P.I.T.A. to do it, and I'm not going to try again until i know it's working.
For what it's worth, there was one more shot from the sand that could have been gotten, on #13, but I just missed the sand and went into the rough instead, So, that would have made a total of 14 shots from the sand on a round of 9 holes and still par every hole!
Here's how it was done:
- #10: Drive into pit bunker on the right about 210 yds. 2nd shot in to sand left of the green. (2)
- #11: Drive right of fairway about 240 yds into sand. 2nd shot across the fairway into the sand left of the fairway about 110 yds from the hole. 3rd shot advance the ball about 30 yds into sand. (5)
- #12: Drive in the fairway. 2nd shot to sand left of the green. (6)
- #13: Drive to fairway. 2nd shot to bunker 13 yds short and left of the green. (This is the one I missed)
- #14: Drive left into sand about 190 yds. (7)
- #15 Drive 200 yds left of fairway into sand. (8)
- #16: Drive 270 yds left of fairway over water into sand. 2nd shot across fairway 160 yds into sand on right. 3rd across fairway 120 yds to sand left of green. (11)
- #17: Drive 210 yds to bunker beyond green. (12)
- #18: Drive to fairway. 2nd shot to sand left of green. (If you want to be bold you can drive 230 yds to sand right of fairway first) (13)
*edit* I just went through part of the whole thing again and looked at my scorecard. It was showing 100% Scrambling and 0% Sand Saves even though all of my shots were coming from the sand, and I made par on every one. I even tried driving into the fairway first on #10 and then into the sand left of the green on my 2nd, saved par, but it still recorded 0% Sand Save and 100% Scrambling. This would explain why I got no award, but clearly there is a bug there on the back 9 of Kiawah when it comes to recording sand shots and saves.
*edit#2* Just tried doing on the front 9 of Kiawah this time. Hit first shot into the sand on the right. 2nd shot to the sand on the right about 30 yds from the hole, pitched up and saved par. The scorecard once again listed 0% Sand Save, 100% Scrambling. It would appear that its more than just the back 9 of Kiawah being affected.
