In my humble opinion the game design in the above areas are really bad. The poor design and the inconistencies create a game that doesn't realistically show the way a player performs at any given level. The bells and whistles and graphics are GREAT, but the short game has to be improved so the game plays more consistently.

Yes, I get that the intent is to have players spend money on the site to buy better equipment, but there are some fundamental flaws in the way shots come off that should not be ignored. Additionally, better equipment usually does not provide the level of improvement that the game needs in improved consistency.

Out of respect for the game and the player who reaches a certain level, there should be a lot more consistency in the way shots come off. In my mind, a pro status should mean that the player will execute any given shot with some level of consistency-that's the way the game of golf is usually played in the real world. Golf handicaps are usually a pretty good indicator of golf skills and a players ability to consistently execute golf shots.

In my humble opinion, the way to make the game play like a PGA course, is to have it play consistenly difficult BUT predictably so. A putt from above the pin should not come up short by 8 ft one time then shoot 30 ft buy the next time the player faces the similar putt. There needs to be some level of predictability in the way the game performs. Consistently difficult yet predictable is okay, while consistently difficult because of unpredictable outcomes (especially on short shots) makes the game play unfairly.

Please e-mail any response to vincehorikawa@yahoo.com. Thanks

    I concur,

the amount of deviation in putts is enormous.

Example: 8ft putt on Tornament speed, flat, no break. 4 weeks ago, I would power that putt for 5.5 -6 ft and it would be dead on.

The last 3 weeks, it can go past 3ft or be short 1ft...go figure!!!

And the amount of putts I've had die 2" from the hole (or in some cases, seem to sit in mid-air above the hole) has had me cursing the game..

To me it seemed that the "Green" speeds had somehow dropped a level.. IE Tourney became Very Fast, Very Fast became Fast and so on.

I have also seen some really bizzare wind effects, especially in Heavy winds. On occasions, a 30mph will move the ball across the course and then next time, it will move in the air as if the wind has dropped to 10mph.

Striking the ball is equally inconsistent as I can miss the ding by a huge margin and the ball hardly hooks or slices, but get so close to the "Ding" mark that you can't see the background of the meter between your strike and the Ding mark, and the ball hooks/slices massively.

Having spent my last amount of real money on this game, I am resigned now to just playing with the freebie balls and clubs I have and never entering paid comps ever again

PS I never used to lose a ball until I started playing with Callaways...funny, that!!!

    3 things....

Green speeds do sometimes change here, subtly week to week. And any given tourny could have slightly faster or slower greens than a ranked round. This really makes the game more real. I know at least by the 3rd green if I need to adjust.  Rule of thumb, Be aggressive with your putts and try to put them a few feet past the hole if you miss until the course gives you reason not to.

The courses do all play a bit different as far as green speeds. Oakmont and andys are generally faster, RSG, congressional a bit slower.

The wind. High winds effect putting. This is more true at RSG and St andys (the winds are stronger there anyways)  Adding a bit extra power when putting into a 30MPH headwind seems lie a no brainer to me.

I would love to comment, but I was told on Monday by one of the upper tier players on here, to play more and talk less. So, I won't comment.

I read from one player that the higher his status got the more difficult play became. I'm finding that even at my high level (75) I also observe this happening. Can someone share a thought as to why that would make sense? As one gets better in golf, play on the same course becomes easier and more predictable- NOT with WGT- totally absurd logic. Game's logic appears a bit flawed. Also, the breaks on the greens seemed to have gotten more touchy; speed of putts relative to length of stroke seems to be somewhat disconnected. And  'yes' I'm playing with the original equipment and have not spent dime one on purchasing equipment-probably never will. With all the bells and whistles designers have placed within the game experience, one would expects a bit more consistency and predictability in the way the game plays.

    The game is very consistent.

If you play with the starter clubs, you have to live with low precision. Sorry just the way it is.

Even with the starter clubs you can achieve very good results if you do it properly.

    Read THIS. It will help.

    Happy hitting

*edit    I see that you are using beginner clubs for the most part. Change to the starters and you will see a jump in precision.

    I agree with SoulCatcher,

the game IS consistent. The only inconsistency is in my judgment and ability to hit the ding.

Take SC´s advice and upgrade your clubs and you should notice an improvment.

    Good luck!
