Lets hope WGT have not left this on the shelf to collect dust whilst they are concentrating on other ways to become millionaires by inventing other online games such as baseball (allready there) and others and leave this to rott away unloved

I understand there are a few bugs yet to resolve, but one of the benefits of them working on baseball to WGT golf is we will soon have left handed avatars.  As shown in this exclusive photo from Wikileaks.

I'm new here (I've been playing about a month and this is my 1st post). I only play solo, I think it will be some time before I feel comfortable playing in groups. I went a little crazy at first, buying good equipment as soon as possible, even though I saw that people could have very good scores using the free stuff.

I have noticed things that can't be right, for example hitting from the tee or fairway (in other words, not the rough) with a club that's supposed to send the ball 180 yards,  plus there's a ten-mile-an-hour wind at my back (meaning the ball should travel a little more) , I "ding" the shot and the ball goes 160 yards into a sand trap. WTF?  (I've accounted for the elevation, using the formula I found on the forum +/- 1 yard for each yard of elevation.)

I understand my current driver and irons have high forgiveness but low precision.  So if indeed the game is designed to have an off-shot even if everthing is executed perfectly, well ok, at least that's an explanation!

But I am driven a little crazy because my Cleveland wedges have higher precision ratings than my other cluibs, and I still find it hard to get consistency distance-wise in flopping, chipping, and pitching.  My Ping pitching wedge is rated to go 34 yards for a pitch shot, but goes significantly further, even accounting for the slope of the green.

Since I'm new I chalk this up to inexperience, but there are times when it doesn't seem like it is me!

Edited to add: I saw this but somehow forgot about it:

Here are a few rules to follow for the pitch shot:

    • 1) From the fairway subtract 4 to 5 yards
    • 2) From 30/40 rough add 0 yard
    • 3) From 40/50 rough add 2 yards
    • 4) from 10/20 sand subtract 1 yards

It doesn't matter what equipment you have, there are times(too many) when a shot does not turn out the way you plan. And then there are the times, you know you missed it and it turns out great. Inconsistency, is first and foremost the brainchild of this game. Play, make friends, have a good time, and if you take it serious, God help you.

Thanks for replying...I actually feel somewhat less frustrated knowing that this kind of thing is programmed into the game rather that it being all my fault!  Still having a rough time with chipping and pitching, though it is a thrill to get it right...know that this isn't the right topic forum for that kind of advice...but thanks for replying. I just tried the Olympic Virtual U.S. Open qualifier and that gave me a taste for how difficult the game can get...for everyday play I find the back 9 of Bethpage tough and Whistler tough as well, some say Whistler is easy but I find it hard.  I find Cabo to be fairly easy.

To those having a whinge about hitting perfect shots and dings only to find that SOMETIMES the ball doesn't do what you expect....how many times have you MISSED the ding and the putt's gone in/ball's gone close to the hole?  About the same amount?

It's called negative reinforcement - some people remember the bad and forget the good if they already the mindset that bad things are gonna happen.

I think it all evens out in the end and we just need to take the ??wtf?? shots on the chin.

Basically what I said above. What gets you scratching your head is when you shoot a 6 under, immediately play the same course again, and it is no where close to the same course. Same winds within 1-2 mph, chip shots on first game stop 1 ft for birdie, second game, chip the same distance with same spin and it goes 8yrds and in the bunker. I literally had birdie putts that were within and inch of the spot from the first game, on the second round they acted like there was a 2ft incline, 4ft putt showing no movement at all, ding the putt with 5 ft of power and it stops .02 short. Amazes me that this never happens to the players who birdie and eagle every hole. Just commenting folks, doesn't mean a hill of beans to me. Same thing as when I come home late, half crocked, sneak in quietly so as not to wake the wife, mission accomplished. Two nights later, sneak in again, quietly in the dark, fall over a damn chair that was not there before. Same with WGT, the game changes from round to round and green to green. Some players just have an extra sense and seem to know this as soon as they hit their first drive, (oh I see this round is playing differently than the last one). I don't have that special ability.

When wgt themselves tell you the game is NOT consistent then it's difficult for me to understand how anyone thinks the game is consistent.

This game changes not only from hole to hole but from shot to shot. Tee off with a 18 mph cross wind and your ball sails across the fairway as you expect.

Your very next shot shows the same wind speed and direction so you adjust, yet your ball does deviate 1' from your aim. This is NOT being consistent. The following is direct from wgt membership offices.

"We do try to ensure that there is a degree of variance in the wind and with direction/distance of shots in order to provide a realistic environment...obviously you won't be able to hit the exact same direction/distance every time in real life"

A degree of variance and a 18mph wind that doesn't move your ball at all is much more than a "variance
