******** THE ST. ANDREWS INAUGURAL: SPONSORED BY THE CTWR ********

**** this community tournament will be the first to be hosted at St. Andrews ****

******* by gaoerfuqiu & ThunderBoltz ... not affiliated with World Golf Tour ******

    TOURNEY STYLE ***

    • an unlimited number of players participate in qualifying rounds to earn a bid to a prestigious single-elimination bracket

    REGISTRATION ***

    QUALIFYING ***

    • Each player must play one round every 3-4 days (see "Information" for more details).
    • Players will be placed into groups of three, which do not mean that you must play with them; it means that your scorecard will be compared by the tournament organizers to the other players in your group to determine winners of "matches".
    • Winners are determined using a system created by the Volvo World Match Play Championship: the winner of a hole receives two (2) points, the loser receives zero (0) points, and if a hole is halved, both players will receive one (1) point. The winner of the match is the person with the most points at the end of 9 holes of play.
    • A player's total points from all matches are tallied to determine their qualifying score. When qualifying is over, a certain number of players with a certain qualifying score enter the main bracket.
    • Each week, groups will be mixed up so that players can face different levels of competition. There is no telling how many weeks of qualifying there will be. THIS IS WEEK 2!
    • Qualifying will not take place on St. Andrews, a stroke-play course that has not been released yet.
    • Qualifying will not end until the stroke-play course St. Andrews is officially released to the public, at which point it will abruptly end and the single-elimination field of either 16, 32, or 64 (depending on the number of sign-ups) will be announced. Players will be selected for the main bracket based on their qualifying score: the higher, the better.
    • Group Standings. Each player's round was compared to the round of all other players in their group. The outcome is represented first, the opponent's name follows, and the scores are represented after the opponent's name, i.e.: d. gaoerfuqiu 11-7 equals defeated gaoerfuqiu 11 points to 7 points. Refer to the point system above for determining how many points each person receives per hole.
    • If you miss Round 1, you can still play Round 2; if you miss Round 2, you can still play the next week; and if you miss a week, you can still play the next week. No one is disqualified from the tournament unless disorderly conduct becomes an issue.
    • Qualifying Standings. This is what will be used to determine the entrants into the main bracket. The predicted cut line is at 16 players, so make sure to get your name above the line by the time qualifying ends!

    COURSE CONDITIONS ***

    • Week 2 (Sunday, December 13 to Saturday, December 19)
    1. stroke play format: Bethpage Back 9 [PRACTICE: blue tees, high wind]
    2. stroke play format: Kiawah Front 9 [PRACTICE: tournament tees, low wind, slow green speed]

    INFORMATION ***

    • ROUND 2 for WEEK 2: Thursday, December 17- Saturday, December 19. You must complete your round with at least one other person who has signed up for this tournament no later than 11:59 PM EST on Saturday. You cannot play the first round of Week 2 until 12:00 AM EST on Sunday.
    • Week 2 groups. (Click "Week 2 Groups" on the toolbar below the sheet.)Please remember that you do not have to play your round with anyone in these groups; the players in your group are there only to compare scorecards with to determine qualifying points.
    • You must post your scorecard on this thread! Scores will not be counted unless you or your marker posts the scorecard for each round. Posting your scorecard tutorial.
    • Disconnections? In the event of a disconnection, the St. Andrews Inaugural will follow the WGA Tour Rules for Disconnections:

    WGA Tour Rules for Disconnections:

Scores on all the holes completed up to the point of disconnection should be recorded manually.

Replay the round and play up to the point of disconnection, scores up to this point are to be discarded.  From then on continue to record score until the round is completed.

If disconnection takes place in the middle of playing a hole then that hole should be played again.  The score should be recorded from that hole onward until the end of the round

Save and post the scorecard after completing the round but in your post give a brief summary of your recorded score before the disconnection and after. This is important as the scorecard only reflected the last part of your replay round.

    • You may begin playing immediately. Use "The list of registered players" above to find a partner for Week 2, Round 2. Week 2 groups have been made, but they will have no effect on actual gameplay: no matter who is in your group, find a partner between now and Saturday, December 19 and play using the course conditions outlined above. You may have a group of 2 to 4 players. See the link for qualifying standings above, which is a leaderboard that shows where players are rated against all other qualifiers. The qualifying standings are what determines the qualifiers for the main bracket. The standings are updated every Sunday.

    PRIZES ***

    • ranking points for the CTWR

    DATES ***

    • qualifying: Sunday, December 6 to TBD

    QUESTIONS *** ask gaoerfuqiu

IMPORTANT UPDATE (December 17, 2009) - PLEASE READ!

First off, I regret to inform you that ThunderBoltz has asked to be removed as a co-tournament organizer of the St. Andrews Inaugural due to inavailability. If you have any comments or questions, please ask me from now on.

Last night's product update did not include the stroke-play course St. Andrews, but we did get a lot of great stuff. We now have the ability to choose pin placements on Bethpage and green speeds. Round 2 conditions now include these adjustments. All qualifying rounds from now on will also have these add-ons in their conditions. You do not have to re-play your round with these conditions.

There has been an issue in interpreting "blue tees" on Kiawah for Round 2: "blue tees" equal "Tournament (Hard)" tees, which is what everyone has played so far. Course conditions for Kiawah now say "tournament tees".

To those who have answered other players' questions: thank you very much for doing so. You make my life easier by not having to answer so many questions when I come online after a long time offline.

With the withdrawl of one tournament co-organizer, I now have more to do for this tournament, which will delay things a bit. Please bear with me once again as I work on updating group standings and checking players' scorecards for Week 2, Round 1. Due to timing, updates will not come instantaneously so I ask that you stick with me as this tournament progresses. Thank you for playing so far, and I hope you will continue to participate.
