    @thunderbird

    "Calling us cheats and using a country club name to associate us with cheaters is a mistake."

    Perhaps I missed it, but I don't think he called you cheats. He merely found it interesting that you named your CC after a karate club in a movie that was full of cheats. I queried him on the name of his own CC. I found the name amusing. He explained its' origin and I still find it amusing...lol

    xAmazingTrace:

    Make the prize pool grow per how many entrants

    +1

    Short, concise, and the perfect solution. I would 100% support payout to Top 3 or any other type payout that only uses entry fees for the prize.

    @wgtNico, there is the perfect way to bring those tourneys back with no cost to WGT, and no reason for anyone to complain about them.

    Just my two cents about "single" and "unlimited" play.

    If you keep swinging a stick in the air, eventually you will hit the fly. If hitting the fly is important to you, just keep swinging but if you want to see just how skillful you are at knocking a fly out of the air with a stick, swing once.

    I am no fan of the unlimited play setting for any high-stakes tournaments but especially the qualifying round for the WGT Live Series. It seems to me that the "unlimited play" is not necessarily helpful for opening doors for mediocre players like myself. Actually, it may be having the opposite effect. Think SINGLE PLAY like The Kings Cup. "Single play" is much more likely to attract me to any tournament. Just sayen'.

    WGT wants their ball hits. We have given them some suggestions as to how to get those and then make the top 50 or so play a single play to decide the top 10 for the Live Series. I would be fine if they made it just the the eTour, where the top 128 qualifiers play a massive single play bracket to decide the finalists. But the 2 tourneys in question from the OP are both single play tourneys. That's what made them so challenging and often had many different winners. I like that format, as it sounds like you do as well.

    And there has been no mention of making them anything other than single play.  You all talk like the premium monthly is something that the best players play and so they should carve it up to suit them.  It's not, everyone plays it and the lower tiers even directly fund the top tiers prizes (even ignoring ball and equipment purchases) so it should be made to work for them.  I think the new format is much better for them.

    If you want a new tournament then fine give some ideas, but wgt have done a good job changing these imo.

    What are you talking about? I was replying to Slimjim because his post sounded like he was talking about something else. I even address it to him. So Your interjection has me a little confused. Anyway, I’m glad you like the changes. I don’t. That’s why I posted here. I think there are enough tourneys with the structure. Not sure why they felt the need to take these two and make them like the rest. But that’s just my opinion.

    You don't see why they're less attractive to sandbaggers and cheats this way?  You don't see that people in lower tiers may be glad to get a prize, any prize (even the one's sneered at earlier in this thread)?  I think getting something back, even less than they paid, makes them feel like they're getting somewhere in the game and is likely to keep them playing and perhaps upgrading.  Imo much more so than watching some high level players play each other with totally different equipment.  Although perhaps convincing wgt to the contrary is in the interests of some. Just my opinion.

    All the talk has been about what's best for the top players, as it generally is, but once again the ones funding them are ignored.  So far in this months premium; eleven scores at TC and forty one at TP.  The same entry fee for both but 6,000c prize fund at TP and 25,000c prize at TC.  So the TP's have paid nearly 4 times as much for less than a quarter of the returns.

    Or let's put it another way the TP's have already paid 2,200c in entry fees more than will be paid out in prizes to them while the TC's are 22,800c short, how do you think wgt will balance the books?  I'll keep an eye out as the month goes on, but really, who has cause for complaint?

    Seems most threads are that way. If nothing else, it makes for "interesting" reading.

    What's best for the top players?? Lol go look at all available tournaments then come back here and say that with a straight face.  You can "get something back" in the 98% of the tournaments geared towards the majority getting a slice of the pie.
