I'd like to think that they want to solve it in your favour, suppressing all the illegitimate accounts.

    What is needed is guidance....

Is this a double IP issue? if so- how should places with wifi hot-spots be treated...Like 3 WGT players at same restaurant or airport or...etc. would all show to have connected to same IP. Not to mention wireless IPs and VPNs that could connect to an IP someone else has used to play WGT.

What if a friend is visiting and wants to play a round? Can we not do this for fear of being rounded up as a double account?

Probably a dumb question, but why is someone with a multi-account such a problem? I guess what I'm asking is, if a person has two user names and two accounts, what difference does it make?

I was an average player (at best). If I had six accounts, I'd still be an average player in each of those. WGT would make more money by having me equip these players. Further, it would eliminate all the cases we see where a person is innocent, or there are multiple different people using the same IP (as highlighted in the enclosed post ^^^)

It's sandbagging, with all it's negative consequences.

I agree, Paul.  But, there are more effective ways to sandbag. Very few get the player banned like a multi-account. I personally consider a player with top equipment playing from the short tees to be a bit of a sandbagger...this seems to be ok though. At least it seems to be a common occurrence.

I guess it doesn't matter. Just a question I had.

    cheers,

I have pondered the same question...These are the only things I can think of although I am sure I am not seeing the whole picture either.

    • Someone good at the game lets say a real champ or TC (not talking about the red tee/paper guys) could theoretically, start over at hack and have a big advantage over the real hacks in tourneys that payout $$
Why they would do this is beyond me, maybe gift stuff to their alter-ego? OR Maybe their is black market where you can use WGT credits...lol
    • Someone middle of road or red tee champ may restart to relive the glory of being good at the game? I mean a champ shooting 32-36 on chambers does not turn heads but a hack hitting 32 is pretty impressive even from easy tee's. This one will eventually move to legend and doesn't seem to pose any issues I can see.

The only (2) restarts I have had contact with did it because they were kicked out of a club or ostracized from a clique and came back either to get back in or to mess with people they felt were responsible, In either case I think they have much deeper issues than being a re starter... Both of these were "originally" red tee champions.

Did you ever consider that the player with the top equipment, playing from the short tees, may be a multi-account?

Realize, not all multi-accounts are cheats. There are people who are restarts that had no choice, for many reasons. WGT has allowed a member to have a second account due to problems accessing accounts as well as problems when the flash ended. There are many legitimate reasons a player may have had to start a new account. Notwithstanding, in those instances, the player does not play (or otherwise use, in any way) the previous account. Obviously, we all know there are players who establish multiple accounts to gain an advantage, as well.

As for top equipment/short tees, those that started primarily with the mobile version, or who play, almost exclusively, in the coin rooms, tier up differently than those who advanced playing the flash version. As a result, there are many high level, low tier, players. They are able to buy top equipment due to their high level and still play from their tier appropriate tees.

There are many players who are accused of cheating when, in fact, they are not cheating. Likewise, there are many members who "cheat the system". It is actually quite easy to tell the difference. The most obvious abuse is seen in the Showdowns. There are many, many, threads discussing this, so, there is no reason to elaborate further.

To be clear. I don't necessarily equate sandbagging with "cheating". If I gave that impression, I apologize. I guess I also don't equate multi accounting with cheating, which is why I don't understand a player getting banned. I equate cheating with cheating. That is, a player whose intent it is to take advantage of another player through nefarious means (especially when money or credits are on the line).

You all seemed to have missed one vital point here, the OP has admitted to having had more than one account previously, he says he "doesn't remember them all"!!!  So how many has he had???  So many that he can't remember them all???  Of course he's going to have his account(s) closed, and for good reason!

Now even the one he posted this with is gone.

I agree with a lot of what's been said in this thread... There are people who use multi accounting  to cheat, sandbag and/or to manipulate the system and should be punished accordingly!!

BUT in the case of my good friend Ottis (3rd post in this thread) he's is an innocent victim of a somewhat flawed  system IMHO.

There's got to be "Some" exceptions to the rule? Now I know Ottis's roommate  and have personally spoke to him and Ottis on Skype   AT THE SAME TIME as both were playing with me in the same game. So I know for a fact they are NOT the same person.

Also I remember a few years ago another friend Mike and his buddy and co-worker would play with us almost every night after work from Mike's house using the same IP Address ...Luckily no trouble ever happened back then.

As for Ottis both he AND his roommate have attempted to contact CS multiple times to explain the situation for all I know he may even go as far as to show proof of their separate  ID's (ridiculous) But he tell's me WGT has stopped all correspondence with him so how could he even do that if he was willing?
