2015 and 2016 courses

  In 2015, the British Open returns to St. Andrews. In 2016, the U.S. Open returns to Oakmont.

  WGT already has both of these courses, so perhaps the courses for the Women's Opens will be used instead, or the PGA Championship courses. 

  However, I would like to see some sort of a poll held to decide which course is made in each of those years - presuming of course that WGT is still going at two courses a year and that the British Open courses continue to be produced (another matter entirely).

  Obviously 2015 and 2016 are a long way off, but with the length of time it takes WGT to produce a course, plans have to be made early.

  I'd like to see an inland British course at some time. Maybe Wentworth.

  Agreed about the "inland" part. This is what I mean about having the British Open courses every year - that is a lot of links courses, considering we already have Kiawah and are getting Chambers Bay and Erin Hills, both stated to be links-style. 

  Personally, I think there are better bets than Wentworth. I get that Wentworth is very well known - "the most televised course in the world" hosting three events a year I think - but it has come under a lot of stick lately  with the course renovations and I would personally like to see a non-UK European course.

  My personal picks would probably be Valderrama or Bro Hof Slott, but there are a host of great courses out there, with most courses on the European Tour offering great holes and a few set to host major tournaments such as the Ryder Cup.

  When we got Oakmont last year it was the site of the Lady's U.S. Open so I am assuming that in 2016 we will get the site of the lady's Open again.

  I'd like to see somewhere completely different. A non UK/USA course. Wgt have a chance to put a course on from anywhere in the world. Somewhere in Australia or Canada maybe. There's a lot of players from these 2 countries that play the game and i'm sure they'd love to see a wgt course from their homeland.

  For the 2 opens it would have to be a U.S. Course for the U.S. Open and either a Scottish or British course for the British open. I believe if they used any other then the U.S.G.A and the R&A would most likely pull out of their agreement. And no agreement from those 2 governing bodies then no official opens. And with no official opens here that would severely hurt WGT.

  The reason they did Oakmont instead of Pebble Beach was because Pebble Beach was unavailable to them (probably licensing issues - never explained).

  The tie-in with the R&A for the the Open does not appear to be as firm as that with the USGA for the US Open. It has gone nicely for 2 years but I don't see an official commitment to (necessarily) keep doing so. As the Open is a fixed rota if we are lucky we may nonetheless have all of the courses at some point within a few years.

  WGT has never limited the stroke-play courses to the Open or US Open courses, but after the first course (Kiawah) it has effectively worked out that way. Still, they may surprise us.

  Would love to see the 'World' part of 'World Golf Tour' mean more. Time for a tie-in with the European or Asian tours? God knows there are tons of eager golfers in those regions - not necessarily well represented on WGT yet. And many glorious courses.

  Have wgt ever disclosed what the "ties" with USGA and RA or indeed if there are any at all, or is it just an assumption ? Perhaps icon could clear this up.please unless its on a need to know basis.

  But for those 2 virtual opens we already have the courses available so why not have courses from somewhere else. We can still have the virtual opens on the proper courses but at some other point during the year we can have another tournament to open up the new courses.

  Some of this info was in press releases (typically, both parties will announce something). The R&A press release - if you read between the lines - avoided any commitment for future years.
