WGTadmin2: Basically everything between the WGT server your ISP and your computer will affect the performance. If you think about it there are probably over 10 machines / hops between your machine and the server that affect the "transmission".
geeDub ..
I apologize if it wasn't meant to, but, the tone
of your last post was pretty "dickish" , in my opinion.... and it
didn't need to be.
I get just as frustrated with the swing meter as anyone else, but the quote above makes more sense to me than any other explanation I've seen since I've been here. Absolutely no way it can be everyone's computer, which is how a lot of the responses read, but our particular machine is the only thing that WE can control, just as WGT can only control their servers. I hadn't ever thought about the links between the two before.... how many servers/ junctions in the network between them & me.
That made me think of a couple things ... a terrible cable signal i used to have, that turned out to be my fault for splitting the cable to too many TV's. It also reminded of this game we used to play in kindergarten ... you know, the Telephone Game - one kids whispers a message to the next, and he to the next, etc .Very rarely was the message the same at the end of the line as it was when it started. Any little glitch in the network between here and there would cause a problem ... one hole loads quick, the next takes 20 seconds ... one time the meter takes a dump .. and maybe not again for the rest of the game. Does that make me feel better about losing my 40-cent ball? No .. but at least I know that it's not just happening to me.
