    Yiannis1970:
Have used this gimmick for a little while Simon, 9 out of 10 times, the proper speed is about there (50-55%).

    Yiannis1970:
Actually, these numbers are meaningless in correlation to those that we were playing on flash for years. Now 13 speed is like 10 on flash...on the launcher you need to bang everything nowadays. Flash was all finesse on 13-14 greens....now, you just bang and the ball hardly moves.

I can't say I agree with that, I still use the same multiplying factor for 13 speed greens as I did in Flash, and it still works fine.  That said, I don't 'calculate' the hitting distance any more, haven't done so for many years, way before Flash went out, it's all just guesswork now based on experience and feel of what I used to calculate.

Everyone has his/her own method to calculate the speed, but the x0.72 / 0.65 which was working fine all these years (speed 13) on flash, does not come even close here on the launcher.

While the hole is identical in size throughout the game (as Yiannis's pixel count will attest) it's clear that any margin of error the programming provides is reduced as you go up through the tiers.....as we've all seen Hack/Amateurs/Pros making putts where the ball would have skimmed the hole or missed comfortably once you hit Legend....

We've all also seen a Hack putt where it feels like a hand has popped out of the hole to drag the ball in from a clear miss (and the 10 foot gimme) and I'd expect that to be explicit WGT programming to make the game a little easier for newbies (it's an entry drug taster before you get fully addicted!!!).

So the answer to the OPs question from my understanding (and I'm sure I've seen it elsewhere on the Forum but can't track it down) is that while (i) the hole is not (technically) smaller as you go up the ranks (ii) you won't get the WGT "benefit of the doubt" on whether it's close enough to fall in once you get to those higher tiers...

    +1 Fully agreed.

That's a load of rubbish in my opinion.  I've been here 12+ years and I didn't notice anything like that as I was moving up the tiers.

Also, before September 2010 Master was the highest tier.  When they introduced Tour Master and Legend did they make it so you had to be more precise with your putt, meaning you had to hit it more into the middle of the cup?  And then what about when TL, C and TC tiers were introduced?  If what you say is right, when they introduce more tiers the ball will never drop unless you hit it dead centre.

I have never seen a putt drop that shouldn't go in, at any tier, but at the same time I have seen putts drop in the side door for even the highest tier if the speed of the ball was right.

I was wondering why the ball kept getting bigger and bigger, and then it hit me.
