As some may be aware, due to events beyond his control, MIO's post are being delayed. As such, as an involuntary intern...I am somewhat pleased to announce the following:

Another week is over, 3 more players get eliminated from the stroke play event.  22 players go through to round 4 where you need to score 63 (-7) or better to proceed to the next round.

The 2nd round in the Matchplay event is over too.  The 3rd round is as follows (posted on page 1 also):

              AnaNikolaj   v   hokeypokey300
              Beermoose60   v   DufferJohn7

              HamdenPro   v   jerseyjake72
              GHOST3715   v   IvyCaldwell1978

              Trinbagoboy   v   w/o   w/o
              Tdotdoba   v   WildCoast

              cousinzeke1   v   WUISENRIKE
              Allqvie   v   TomCarioca

3rd round matches are to be played over 18 holes (plus extra holes if needed) on Pinehurst, to be completed by 30th September.  Please get in touch with your opponent as early as possible to organise your games.  If anyone wishes to stream their games, please put the date, time, and your stream link into this thread.

Good luck to everyone in both events.

Well that was tough!  I always felt this might be where I bow out.  And being only 1-under after 6 holes this looked highly likely.  This is a course that if you aren't in the right place on the green, even a 3ft is difficult.  And I was so often in the wrong place.  A birdie on #7 and an unlikely birdie putting down the steep slope to the left pin on #9 gave me a glimmer of a hope.  But only a single birdie in the next 4 holes once again made it look bleak.  Good approaches within a couple of feet on #14 and #15 put me at -6 with 3 holes left to play.  One more birdie needed and no mistakes.  The birdie came on #17 with another slippery 5ft putt when my flop shot from the back fringe stopped above the hole despite it being as steep as a cliff face!  The drive on #18 was good, the approach short of the hole.  Just 2 putts and I was safe.  The ball came up the green, looked to be in the middle of the hole... then somehow lipped out to deny me a closing birdie.  But I'm happy, I'm through another week.

Nice 59 even though the Double Bogey on 9 hurts :)
