I’m a Tour Legend - level 116.  I have a 58.99 average with 1206 tournament rounds.  What do I need to do to reach champion tier?

Your stats show 1206 ranked rounds.  Assuming you never Tiered up through coin games, you probably lack enough rounds at Tour Legend. Does your average ever go up ever so slightly if you have a bad round?  If it does that means you aren't "saturated".

You need 750 ranked rounds JUST AS A TOUR LEGEND along with the average.  If there is no early tiering up involved (from coin rooms or beating higher ranked players or winning WGT tournaments), the total minimum number of required ranked rounds for each tier adds up to 1400.  So take 1400 - your 1206 and it leaves 196.  So you need another 196 ranked rounds, give or take.  Also remember Best of P3 and P5 rounds don't count towards your ranked rounds or average, and neither do rounds played on custom CC courses.

**also, since you mentioned your level is 116, I thought I'd add in that level has nothing to do with Tier advancement once you get past one of the early Tiers (Pro I think), at this point Levels only unlock the eligibility to buy upgraded equipment/balls, which you already have the highest of everything available (except wedges and putter).

For the first few tiers, coin players are tiered up by Level. Probably when you reached Level 70, you were tiered up.

His activities are showing he reached master a few days before he got to L70, so the reason for tiering up must've been a certain number of coin room wins.

👍 Good catch. I'm sure you're correct that player was tiered up based on coin room wins.

    Folow up...

If that's the case, how did the guy I just play get to Champion level?

He was a level 101 Champ with 73 ranked rounds played and a 71.50 average.

He probably plays a bunch of coin games and tiered up via the coin game promotion algorithm.

Why are the thresholds such a guarded secret?
