High Winds at RSG,Or St Andrews would be UNPLAYABLE,,Why? Well when you have a 28 wind behind(Tail wind for Americans) its more or less impossible to stop that ball like we can in WGT,Thebigeasy has played St Andrews in high winds and walked off on the 12 th hole( nothing knew on that 1),The fact of the situation is this,What is the difficulty factor of a wind against and a tail wind,Well in Real golf they both present high problems,Wind against would be extremely difficult to guess the right club to hit and a tail wind would Or be even more difficult because if your not hitting a spin wedge that ball isnt stopping:),So now we come to WGT where Player A has 190 into a wind that says:) 28 against,Player hits the shot well but that little arrow likes to flicker!!:) and player ends up with a 25 footer,Player B has same wind but behind( Tail wind for Americans:)He has 130 to green instead of 190,Player hits lets say 120 half bs,ball stops and rolls 2 yards:)Question is>>Is that reality? NO,So therefore the difficulty factor which a Tail wind would oppose and level up the Random wind situation doesnt exsist:) Thats why the wind you are given plays a huge part on where you finish. Please WGT identify that Random winds in High wind comps need to abolished and a newer fairer way of handing out high winds needs ti be implemented,On wgt a R11 Cally combo can stop a ball in its tracks more or less with a huge tailwind,Or at least you can judge the roll quite comfortably,Players in Real gold CANNOT shoot sub 60s in High Winds at St,Andys or RSG because a tailwind is maybe their worst wind,Thats the opposite of WGT :)

I had 28 mph wind at say 6.5 o clock, just a fraction off headwind, it made my ball turn left like 20 mph right to left wind.  I had same wind wind at 5 o 'clcock but this time my ball went straight.  These winds have mind of their own i.e 1 hole my 120 yard PW went 94 yards in 28 mph headwind on #12, next time it went 110, you never know what your going to get.  (yes i do...I got HEADWIND every single hole, except for side wind on #11 in fall championship)

I would be happier if the wind was the same across the course. For example the 9th hole on St Andrews goes in the opposite direction of the 10th hole so i don't expect to be playing both of these holes in to a 22mph wind like i did a couple of days ago. At least this way the wind be more true to real life and give everyone a fair selection of winds

    I beg to differ.

I've watched British Opens at SA, have seen 400+ yard drives with irons, putts from fairways...both which are not a possibility on WGT, but were done regularly at RSA.

I agree with everything else though:)

There were only about 3 or 4  fourballs left on the entire course it was that bad....Folks who'd just started & a few others who were probably just wacko. I think the fact that they'd paid £100 each for a round and were lucky to be picked in the ballot to play that day well it may have drove them to play on in such fierce winds......but the majority of those playing were making an exodus of biblical proportions from the course.

Whilst on the 9th hole I stopped to help an old guy who'd lost his way having been blown around like an empty tracksuit  from the rest of his group who'd decided just to abandon him figuring that he was getting blown to safety in the direction of the clubhouse lol.....and his group were originally 2 holes in front of us.

They suspend play on the tour when the winds prevent the ball from staying at rest on the green. We don't have to worry about that here, nor do we have to worry about gusts so much - the jiggling f the arrow, yes, but not gusts.

And besides, the worst part in playing in high winds has nothing to do with how the ball travels. Simply trying to execute a golf swing in conditions that make standing a bit of a challenge has to be pretty difficult - not that I know empirically, but still - that HAS to be true. If you are unbabalanced, you can't strike the ball well. We don't have to worry about that here either.

So really, if all we have to consider is the flight of the ball - what exactly is the problem?

In a golf tournament, the early groups go out and have one set of conditions - the afternoon group may have a totally different set of conditions. Just think about the open at RSG this year - not everyone had to play in the rainy conditions - The later groups didn't see the rain at all on day 2 or 3 (can't remember)

So really, what is so unrealistic about two different players having different winds on the same hole here?

LOL This is the point i am trying to get across lol, Tail winds are too easy on WGT,He had to hit an iron because the wood cant stop he had to putt from fairway because chip pitch or flop wont stop,This is the issue i am addressing,Tail winds dont pose the problem they should to equal random wind set up.:)
