Need help.... wife has me on a very strict "stupid golf game budget" .... lol

At L56 not very good Tour Pro and I am dying to buy a set of clubs soon but each level is killing me so waiting is tough but seems to be worth it at this point to upgrade to either the Ping or TM sets.

I only have enough credits to buy one of the above sets since they seem to be very good value.

I have upgraded my putter to the Rossa and purchase a 64 degree wedge to match the ping set but now wonder if the TM's are better since I heard the driver is better and the set is more forgiving then the G10's.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Get a pair.  And I don't mean wedges.

R9 Driver is a little longer, if my memory serves me, but I think the G10 was a little easier to hit. Looking at Tour Preferred vs. G10, personally, I would highly recommend the G10's. The high trajectory allows for a lot of shot options that are just not available with lower-hitting clubs. Plus, that high trajectory makes it much easier to stop balls on the green, even with the cheaper balls. I played a lot of rounds with the G10's and loved 'em the whole time. Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth. Happy hitting!

The G 10s are the way to go in my opinion. They will last u all the way to legend. Several legends play the g 10 irons. The driver will need replacing eventually but will be good till lvl 80, then u can purchase the r 9 driver. Enjoy!

I too had the G10's and used them until very recently. Very good clubs, they would be the ones I would choose.

LOL. Yes the G10's are the way to go. Get the whole set. The taylormade has a better driver but your irons are whats gonna put you on the green. And like others have said, the high trajectory is hugely important to stopping the ball in this game, you just have learn how to deal with the wind a little more... But def go with the G10's!

    cheers and good hitting

If you HAD to buy it as a full set, definitely go with the G|10s.  I tried both during the free rental period (review here: http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/72948.aspx?PageIndex=1), and didn't like the tour preferred irons at all.  R9 driver is better than the G|10 for sure, but that's the only exception.  If you skip the hybrid, would you be able to save enough to buy the G|10 irons and wood, and the R9 driver?

Overall, though, the G|10s are the better set overall, but the R9 is the better driver.

I agree about the set, disagree about the driver; the R9 is certainly longer, but not nearly as precise. The R9 felt really loose to me, not worth the 10 yards if you're missing fairways at Oak/BPB/Congressional. The G10 has more than enough distance for your tees, and enough for master tees.
