As for the long irons, the 3 iron hits 230 (with Nike ball), only 5 yards short of the burner 3 iron.

LOL. Love your excitement,sk. Is this a misprint? The Burner 3i goes 220 or are you getting those numbers (like 235 with the Burner 3i) because of the ball? Just curious.

Also, the reason I guessed like I did was because I would think if a piece of equipment is available at a higher level it should be better. In this case, if that meter speed slows down AND there are dot improvements in spin and accuracy, that might be a bit much.

Players will pay for that meter with accuracy and taking the i15s or the G15s and doing this would be a barn burner. I played the i15s with the Tour-SD for a long while and think they're on par with the Burners. Slowing the meter down to match the wedges would be a really good combo with those irons. Throw in a Nike and you're phat.  :-)

yep, correct drake.  the level 59 ping clubs were previously called the G10s.

    1.  new name - G20

    2.  1/2 dot more better forgiveness

    3.  slower meter

wow, i see the gap closing between legends and tms. or maybe even master tiered players. it's already difficult enough to defeat a tm in match play.  it's almost like . . . there is this big equality movement in wgt. you know, if one person complains then everything has to be changed to accomodate everyone?

or, correct that. i see the gap closing between legends and hacks.  what is even the point of having tiers?  if a hack plays the correct cards, then that hack can have level 90 r11s, right?  let's say the hack does nothing but play practice rounds and gets as good as bollox with the r11s and nike balls.  then what does that tier mean in this sense?  sorry everyone. not much of a rantor.  just seems like wgt is making it too easy.  i've seen others here in the forums suggest that certain clubs be available only at certain tiers and that could help.  or how about this?  open the pro shop to everyone, meaning anyone can buy anything regardless of tier, level, avatar, etc.  but, here is the key. only legends can compete in the majors. and only legends can compete for credits in match play.  sandbagging would no longer be an issue.  wgt could even allow multiple accounts at this point as well. hey, more money for them, right?  that wouldn't work. someone would complain and everyone has to be equal.

still love wgt and looking forward to the level 81 pings . . . but will end with this.  in 2000 u.s. army general shinseki irked the rangers by changing the dress code policy by requiring everyone in the army to wear the black berets.  the rangers were very upset about this because of the difficult training they had to endure to EARN the right to wear the black beret.  so, the rangers simply changed over to the tan beret.

It may be because of the ball - Burner 3 iron, rated 220, goes 235 with no backspin or topspin applied, with Nike ball. The G20 with same circumstances goes 230, albeit some of that roll, whereas with the burner, the shot stops almost immediately. distance wise, the G20 irons hit exactly same distance for 4-8 irons; 9 iron 10 yds less; PW 15 yards less; 4 iron 10 yds. less - all shots where spin is not altered from standard. The main advantage of the burners -in my experience- is that when 'dinged' they are more precise; main disadvantage is on mis-hits the penalty is exaggerated (and with these new club's slow meter, mis-hits tend to very slight).  I am eagerly anticipating the new Pings for higher tiers...yes we can adjust to supersonic meter speeds however that doesn't make them fun on an 'off' day!

Intriguing answer, sk, thanks. It intrigues me because of the difference the ball makes with them. That is huge because I played them as soon as they came out until the R11s came out but that was before the Nike balls.

Sounds like you know your stuff.  GL  ;-)

Got the G20's - love them already. The meter on the g10's was giving me a twitch. They seem to stop better than the g10's aswell....well pleased.

I just bought a set of G10 s the other day and really glad I did now .The point of buying  them was to get my complete set of woods irons and wedges the same swing speed .

It's good that Raptures users now have a longer set of irons  as an option if they want to stick to a slow meter [at a reassuringly expensive price ] but as all the top drivers and wedges are quicker I would say take a step up in speed .

Btw  Love my G10 s ,accuracy and spin improvement is instantly obvious and to be honest dont seem any less forgiving than my old Ruptures .Speed adjustment was pretty easy too as  same as rest of my clubs anyway .I think I got a such a bargain at 1200c feels slightly like receiving stolen goods LOL

I haven't played with the R11's yet, still a couple months out at the pace I'm going. But, judging by the huge performance leap from the lvl59 G10's to the Burner 2.0's, I have to imagine the R11's are much better still. Seems like anything 'better' would be getting awful close to overkill.

The G10s still are my favorite clubs and I'll pull them out of closest from time to time to enjoy.  The 2.0 burners were big leap over g10s in "stickability"   The R11s were a small step over 2.0s. Mostly I play the r11's for its amazing 3i 225 club.

For me, best scores came with 2.0 irons and call lvl 35 balls.  Was a deadly combination and more predicable than the r11 and nikes are at times.

Interesting you say this m8... my question to you, and pls take no offence when saying it... Why aren't you still using the 2.0 and L35 Calls... if your not using them now.

    Hey Roger

Its a valid question.   I think its because the r11s and nikes are capable of executing shots the 2.0 and 35z balls arent.  Especially 25 plus ft uphill shots like  9 oakmont.  Now you can  birdie hole with front pin where as with 2.0 irons, id put it in bunker and go for par rather than risk bogey 3putt.

If they come out with G20 lvl 80 irons with similar dots as 2.0 plus a slower meter, I'd def be giving them a whirl.
