    Boquerone:
Can any of you guys give me a few tips on how to get consistent accuracy? My BIGGEST problem is when the line is running to the "strike" position and clicking it dead on centre. Is there a knack to getting this right?

First of all, you have a SWING club in your bag. These are highly inconsistent - the price for easy play. Replace it by the equivalent starter club w/o "SWING" - it's in your inventory.

Some thoughts on hitting the ding (strike position - sound):

    - stay relaxed. I never hit it when I try too hard. Also, every player misses it sometimes - the world will keep turning :)

    - custom clubs have a margin of tolerance against ding mis-hits. IMHO, only putts must be hit with the ding if you don't miss it intentionally. All other shots work with a tolerance, yet small deviations in the result. The starter club with the least tolerance seems to be the 3WD(?).

    - practice and try to find a rhythm. I tend to move my head up and down during the swing - it helps me find the right moment.

    - stay relaxed, It's but a video game.

At level 67, you have some really nice options open as far as better irons go. I'd get some NOW! Sure there are many variables, but there just isn't an equivalent substitute for better gear.

    Here are my "generic" recommendations:

    1. Get the best driver you can get as you progress. There is absolutely NO substitute for hitting a shorter iron into the green.

    2. Use a non-starter ball. Srixons are a good value as are the WGT GI-SD balls, but even  better balls give more distance and spin which takes out some inconsistency on approach shots.

    3. Periodically upgrade your irons. At your level, you could get the level 58 G20 irons which are one of the best mid-range sets in the game IMO providing decent performance and a comfortable meter.

    4. Learn and use all wedge shots. Including pitch, flop and chip. I see many players using flop instead of the higher precision pitch because they simply don't know how to use the pitch shot.

Ask yourself a few questions. How far does your 8 iron go out of 30/40 rough? How about 40/50 rough? You should be able to answer this question for each club...including your putter (How far does your putter travel on full 15 foot meter? 30 foot meter? etc,...).  I know you use the starter putter and of all the starter clubs this one you can hold onto if it works for you. If you're not dropping putts, I'd consider an upgrade there as well and some practice

The slower the meter, the easier to ding. You can slow your meter by using balls with a high 'feel' rating. There are some pretty darned good clubs available with slower meters. Look for that rating before purchasing. However, this can be completely offset by high 'forgiveness' at least to some extent. As I understand it, with it, slight misdings aren't effected as much, if at all. I have little experience with faster meter clubs, so can't really be sure.

I write down how I approach every hole

Very good. But wind is a variable that is virtually never the same. Unless you learn to handle it, you'll struggle. Most players just do this by feel, and have success. If you are like me and want more mathematical control, I'll go ahead and suggest this. It certainly improved my game immediately.

    Handling Wind

One of the replies to your post came from MainzMan. In it, he encouraged you to check out his country club. A while back, he most graciously did the same for me, when I, too, posted my frustrations.  I joined. It has been the most enjoyable part of the game for me since. There is no way I could have progressed the way I have without their encouragement and help. The above wind advice actually came from a Legend in that same CC. I'd name him here, but am unsure whether he wants the acknowledgement made public.

Continue to enjoy the game. As with real golf, it can be quite frustrating, but every so often you get a tap in bird. Sweetness.

Ask the golfers you play with! I've run into very few that's not eager to help you. I got tired of playn like crap and srarted asking. One game that helped me was Alternate shot game. If you happen to get a good partner..ask them questions..they will answer! There is one golfer on here that has helped me the most and he knows who he is..I thank him everytime I play with him. Try it...u'll see they will help. Hint...Most of it is between your ears..lol.

[...] I miss some tips about the angle to draw: everytime I miss it for a few inches. Is there a method calculating how much space leaving from left/right the hole?

Talking about putts above 3 feet...(?)

This is a thing of experience, luck, training and statistics.

Unfortunately I don't know any formula - sometimes the putts fall in series, sometimes not a single one.

OTOH, the length of roll is a strictly mathematical thing, length +/- elevation with a factor corresponding to the green speed.

    Thanks Alosso.

    Yes putts over 3ft.

95% of putts I can get the correct distance but it is just that 3-9 inches either side of the hole that frustrates me!

However what you say about experience, luck, training and stastistics is very encouraging.

At least I know I,m not alone and that hopefully I will become more proficient with time and practice.

Thanks again for taking the time to give me your help and advice.

    It,s much appreciated.

    Lots of Luck!

It is a marketing scheme. They want you to buy custom clubs and pay the fees that go along with the tools to be more consistent. With starter clubs, ball spin for any good result is nonexistent. Simply play the game for what is. If you find the crap play with starter clubs too frustrating, do not play.

I am open to a tournament with golfers ONLY using starter clubs. Might be interesting to see the leaderboard for that?

    Thanks for that.

I like your philosophy!!! And maybe you have a point.

After the golf I,ve played this last two weeks I think I,ll join your tournament for starter clubs only!!!

I,m lucky I got several good clubs from a generous gentleman member and they do make a big difference but at times I feel I,d be better using walking sticks!!!

I,ve been in so many bunkers I,ve started wearing bathing trunks to play!!!

Anyway nice to read that someone has  a nice relaxed approach to the game and maybe that,s what I need.

    Here,s luck to you.

I'm sure that there are many of us that would find that very interesting, I think some CC's have been able to put on a tournament with those rules.  I'd like to see one with starter clubs and the starter ball, and be tier based also.  Although, I'm not sure how it could be determined that a player was actually using the required club/ball set.

To each his own, but why discourage another player to maybe improve his game by spending a little coin or earn free credits ,maybe this is the reason you have no friends after playing for 3 months.  Peace Out
