Boquerone: BIGGEST problem is when the line is running to the "strike" position and clicking it dead on centre. Is there a knack to getting this right?
The slower the meter, the easier to ding. You can slow your meter by using balls with a high 'feel' rating. There are some pretty darned good clubs available with slower meters. Look for that rating before purchasing. However, this can be completely offset by high 'forgiveness' at least to some extent. As I understand it, with it, slight misdings aren't effected as much, if at all. I have little experience with faster meter clubs, so can't really be sure.
Boquerone: I write down how I approach every hole
Very good. But wind is a variable that is virtually never the same. Unless you learn to handle it, you'll struggle. Most players just do this by feel, and have success. If you are like me and want more mathematical control, I'll go ahead and suggest this. It certainly improved my game immediately.
Handling Wind
One of the replies to your post came from MainzMan. In it, he encouraged you to check out his country club. A while back, he most graciously did the same for me, when I, too, posted my frustrations. I joined. It has been the most enjoyable part of the game for me since. There is no way I could have progressed the way I have without their encouragement and help. The above wind advice actually came from a Legend in that same CC. I'd name him here, but am unsure whether he wants the acknowledgement made public.
Continue to enjoy the game. As with real golf, it can be quite frustrating, but every so often you get a tap in bird. Sweetness.
