as i said, I have wedges for 55 and 75yd (tour starter) as all good wedges have meter that is way too fast for me... (probably when I reach tour master or so I'll have to live with it, but now I prefer slow meter and consistency) So with irons from 100 to 190yd I don't need a third wedge but a 205yd hybrid - that's why I'm asking about it.

Get the whole G 20 set.  Sell the hybrid and anything else you have and buy some good wedges (three of them). Invest in a good ball (callaway lvl 33) and your game will improve trememdously. What ever you do, just have fun!

I have the now discontinued ping G10  3wood level 58 I think. anyway when useing the punch shot in 40/50% rough..yes 40/50%..and an open fairway to the green,I was getting about 160-170yds ,with about 110 yds. carry. I doubt any hybrid could match that. I would suggest renting a few different 3woods and see witch ones perform best in the rough.then you also have benefit of well over 220 yds off the fairway. like others have said hybrids are over rated...better to have 3 good wedges instead.  gl.

That was my idea first (regarding G20) + having 3 wedges, out of which only 1 with a fast meter (the 90-95 yarder). But as I have a particular sensitivity to meter, I somehow think it's better to have only a G20 driver (to gain sufficient distance) as well as medium Rapture or K15 irons (which would preclude the necessity of the 3rd wedge with a fast meter...)

I know Rapture irons are less accurate than G20, but they have much better forgiveness and a bit slower meter. So that brings back my question of a 205yd hybrid... :)

    AshtonG21:

That actually does good in the rough. I have tried the 2010 rapture v2 3 hybrid 21 and the burner 3 rescue 19 and neither get even close to the "average yards" it's supposed to. 202 and 205 and their lucky to get to 120.

Another vote for no hybrid! 3 wedges are much better. U have 65 and 85y, got the ping L41 100y. Then u have irons 110 to 200y and a 3w for 225y. Well balanced, I think. As soon as u can buy the G20 driver and u'r ready to go to L88 for Legend  and R11. Buy also better balls. GISD are good and cheap.

    bye

    Turnabout945:

I find that a 3W does well enough out of the rough, especially considering that I get to carry an extra wedge that way.  I have the discontinued Ping G|10 3W, rated at 235 Yds.  I can get around 200 most of the time, sometimes more.  Play with the punch shot out of the rough.  I find that it can work especially well in some cases.

So to answer your question, the best hybrid I can recommend for you is don't buy one.  Get  a good wood and another wedge.

This is a great answer. Punch your way out of rough and use top spin-the ball will roll. Forget trying to make heroic shots from trouble and your scores will drop.

I actually have 55 and 75y wedges that are not very accurate but have a relatively slow meter... Got GI2S and 3S balls too (meter is way more important than distance)

Anyway, I get your point - will probably rent a fast meter wedge to see how it works with a GI3S ball, but I doubt it's good enough meter-wise... (as I'm used to dinging most of the time or at least being very close to ding when not)

Otherwise, for those who tried the 205 yd hybrids, I'd still love the feedback regarding the pros/cons of Burner 3 Rescue vs. K15/Rapture. Thanks!

oh sorry, I mixed up, thought it was for me, apparently a reply to AshtonG21 :)

But he actually has K15 irons, which start from 105 yd, so I don't see any necessity for an additional wedge between 85 yd and that. He may want a 50 yd wedge instead of the hybrid, but not a 100yd one...
