    I'll give you 3 tips

    1) Practise

    2) Practise

    3) Practise

    Changed my mind

    4) Patience

Hope that helps Clubs, balls come later IMO. Although the 1st club you should buy would be a driver to get yourself closer to the pin. OK 5 tips  lol

    1. Learn basic things (wind speeds, meter timing and how the game generally works.

    2. Get a new set of clubs. (The standard wedges and putter not to bad. You need better irons, driver, woods and balls.

    3. Play a lot of time so that you know how your clubs works and what shots to use in rough/weeds/bunkers, etc.

    4. Know the courses you play and try to get a friend into the game so you and him can share tips.

Hope it will help you, If you have any problems or questions feel free to leave a message on my profile wall and i will do my best to help you.

Don't try to chip from the rough, even though that's what it defaults to. Pitch.

Wedges are cheap and worth their weight in gold. First purchase.

Don't get addicted to paying by the stroke. (Buying balls.) It's about being able to predict and reproduce behavior. When you get to the point you really believe you didn't finish top ten because you couldn't stop one approach shot on a dime or if you had only had an extra five yds on the par five, then you can think about buying balls. Clubs, on the other hand...

Play the default equip until you just can not improve your game any further with them. The low level equip just isn't that much better. Unless you can afford a new set every month for the first four or five months, just stick it out until you can buy good stuff. That being said, you buy game in the pro shop. The good stuff is good stuff. If you still love playing after three months of hacking with junk iron, it's worth every penny.

.. Learn the 'flop' shot around the greens,,,   the ball wants to go right off the club when hit squarely, thus a simple technique of hitting the ball on the 'left' marker before the centre one will compensate that drift...........

Amen, this should be rule number 1.

After that, wedges should be your first club upgrades - they will help you where you will need it most.  Drop the hybrid and pick up a third wedge. I wouldn't worry about irons until you get to at least pro tier, but a driver will help by shortening approach shots.  Putter, no advice available- too much personal input on that- there are some very good players at higher levels that still use their original putter.

Above all else, practice.  There is no substitute for just playing the game
