I suggest checking out East Coast CC.  I started the club over a year ago... grew it to a top 20 club on WGT then gave the reigns to Maxwere due to many of the frustrations that you've all written about.  He has done an amazing job with the website, polls, tourneys, chatrooms, etc.  I highly suggest checking it out and potentially merging your members to East Coast if you like what you see.  I'm glad I gave up my ownership and now have time to relax and enjoy what WGT has to offer.

Thanks again Max and great job!

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger it looks to me that most CC,s have the same problem, the  one I am in has a core of 15 or so very active players (out of 50)   the rest we see sometimes but will never play a round with other members, We have a Skype group and it works well if you can get members to join. Sometimes I wonder why some people even join a CC.

I understand what you are saying happyman but it doesn't actually get around the problem of getting active members. If you have a club membership of lets say 45 members and 15 are active you can indeed remove the other 30 that might play just every so often, however you are still only left with 15 active members so IMO you are actually making the club worse as at least some of those 30 will occasionally play.

Now I understand removing if your membership is at capacity and you want to make room for new members then yes go for it and remove the infrequent players or indeed remove any players that NEVER play but at the end of the day the core membership will be the core membership regardless og club membership numbers.

Don't be to hasty in removing members as I have been tolerant and now those members that never used to play in cc comps have started playing a few and we are gradually progressing. Anybody starting a CC and expecting to get a large playing field in club tourneys forget it, it takes time to build up a CC and most clubs with membership entries of 30 or more in comps have been around for a very long time.

At East Coast we aim recruit the laziest members we can find.

    • Don't wanna do yard work?  How about playing one of our 15 club tournaments.
    • Honey-do list got you down?  Pretend your doing you're preparing the family budget while playing a round.
    • Kids bugging you?  Tell them you have computer work to do to pay for the growing cost of their college educations.
    • Need exercise?  How about walking over to your nearest internet cafe?
    • No Job?  No problem!  We love members who play all day!

Remember: ambition is the nutrition of hacks :)
