What are the increments for the different range putters when using the Spider?

Any advice for best clubs for a new "character?" Not new to golf or golf games, just new to this one. In other words new golfer w/ much smaller learning curve than the avg. person.'

So far I only upgraded my putter and irons. (Spider and PingV2 Raptures)

    Thanks!

Wait until you get to the pro level. Should happen fairly quickly for you. The options for clubs are way better-clubs you can't buy until you get to that level. Master level has even more.

In the meantime you can do 2 things to bring yourself up to speed. Read the Putting Tips in the FAQ. Great info complete with pics that will let you nail your putter down. The Chip and Pitch should be the second move. Both of these tutorials were written by players here and are updated. The author of the Putting Chips, WGTNiv (formerly nivlac) also produced a required reading (IMO) comparison of all the clubs in the pro shop. See this thread....

You can find the answer to your increment question by using the search box. I'd tell you but I've never had that putter. LOL-You won't have it for long either given that it's 1/2 as accurate as the 2 top ones. GL

p.s., Posting ranked stroke rounds is what changes your average and nobody is really sure where it changes. Pro to Master is somewhere around 66. You can play these rounds in the weekly tournaments, multiplayer or by yourself (leftmost tab on game window.) They need to be ranked to count.

The Spider Putter has 2 1/2 Avatar Movements on the 25 Foot scale each about 9.5 feet, and the last bit is 6 feet then. The 50 foot scale has 5 10 foot avatar movments. The 100 foot scale has 7 movments and a little at the end left over, each movement about 13.5 feet. I really don't use the 150 foot scale so I dont know the increments and the 300 foot scale is new and I havent figured it out yet. LOL If you don't know about Avatar Movements then look it up in the forum. P.S. I think the spider is a nice little putter, but that's just my humble opinion.

About the only thing availiable int the way of club for hacks and amateurs is the 'WGT Starter Plus' set (Clubs and Irons) the "Tailor Made' Spider Putter is excellent for starters

DO NOT get anything rated above 'Amateur' as you cannot use any item above your current rating. Some clubs/iron and putter have a higher 'meter speed' (the swing meter) and you should get the lowest possible in starting until you get used to the meter.

You can also get Amateur Balls that slow the swing meter..

Now this all depends if you want to spend money :) I have seen MANY 'Pros' still using the base 'Starters' set and the default balls,

All great info! TYVM. I watched nivlacs tutorial and instantly improved at putting tremendously. But then I bought the spider and was a lil disappointed w/ the lack of movements for the 25ft. Especially seeing as how I plan on most of my putts being inside that range. =)

Do u think I should just go back to the basic , given how easy I find the calculations w/ more movements? Or is it worth  it to adjust to the Spider? I really liked the 5 movements. Simplified the game a TON for me personally.

    THANKS ALL!!!

A lot of players like the Spider for the forgiveness but IMO I think you'll be disappointed in it's performance in the long run. The Redwood and Daytona putters both have 6 scales now with 15 ft being the smallest one. Both of them have twice the accuracy of that Spider and the Daytona has the slower meter of the 2. Scales are the same except for the 45 becomes 60 on the Daytona.

It doesn't sound like you're intimidated by the meter speed so I would suggest going to one of these putters. The scales alone make it worthwhile. Another good practice is to peep the bags of the really good players to see what they carry. GL

I don't use the avatar movement method to calculate distance. I just try to estimate length by dividing up the meter. That said, I loved the Spider when I first got it. Then I started sucking with it. Bought the Daytona and did great for a couple of days. Now I'm starting to suck with the Daytona too.

    Man Jim,

U are awesome! Thanks again for even more info! After those details, I will definitely buy The Daytona or Redwood. Ur right, swing speed is actually not a worry. So , those are def a better choice for me personally. I may have took swing meter speed into too  much consideration when originally comparing the clubs.

Could u chime in on my ? about wedges, drivers, and woods/hb in the other thread?

Thanks again. Ur makin the learning curve much easier for me.

    U have been really helpful!
