    WGTicon:

For a long time I have been a proponent of driving range and putting green but that's when we had 1-2 courses. Now, I actually disagree and I do not think it will do it justice.

The biggest reason is how different greens are on all courses, so best is to play normal round by yourself and practice from different spots.

In my opinion, a driving range/putting pratice green/sand pit are all  needed to enhance a players ability.  Everytime a new type ball is purchased, when you try out or purchase clubs it is really nice to be able to learn the various capabilities of each piece of new equipment.  For essay:  I live in a region that does not allow me to play for credits so many of the differant venues you mention can not be used by myself and Many others.  I think if those pratice areas were available and were set up in such a way that repeat strokes can be done would benefit ANYONE reguardless of thier tier, level, or ability, when useing a new tool.  my nickle.

I assume you mean then it would be a completely separate facility which includes all available club/balls? I guess I didn't consider that and just figured an extra course with pre set putting/driving ranges.

I think such system would require a huge development cycle, likely as large as a full course, or perhaps even larger.

A separate facility and extra course are not needed icon . . . just the ability to play the same shot again in practice mode. When players post that they would like a driving range / sand pit / putting green, they are not asking for a separate facility in my view . . . just the opportunity to play the same shot again as you would in real life to try different things to see what works best.

I've spent 4 or 5 bucks renting equipment for the day and didn't get a clue to how it would perform in different situations as I would only get one shot at each shot.

Apart from the quitters and cheaters posts that come up on here, this is the post I see the most. In my opinion it would be a brilliant tool for players to use.

If configuring practice mode to play shot again rather than view replay (a useless option in my view) would be to difficult / time consuming for your programmers to do, please just say so we can point everyone who asked about it in this direction . . . and I can stop banging my head against a brick wall . . . thanks!

Could we at least get a mulligan option and a ball placer that would allow you to place the ball where we want?

Driving ranges are for golf, not virtual golf. You're not going to learn anything by beating pixels.

IMHO there are definate advantages to having the ability to place a ball where you would like, then hit it from there multiple times.  A few examples would be: If you wanted to see how far your 6 iron would go out of 40%-50% rough.  How much distance do you need to add to a 60yrd shot that has 3 feet of up hill and a 5mph wind in your face.  Chips, sands and pitches from various lies.  Sure, if you can afford to spend a ton of time in the game you may eventually figure all of this out.  Maybe.  I mean, I am sure there are still many vets on here who have not tried various shots becaues they have found a specific shot that they know works for them.  That certianly does not mean that the other options are not viable.  And had there been an option to replace your ball etc....they may have discovered other shots they like better.

Anyway, I take notes right now because anything I learn from each shot is valuable for consistency.  I agree, taking notes is not a bad thing.  I would just like to have the option to rehit a ball and or place it where I like.

My 2 cents and because I am new I realize they are not as valuable.  However, I am speaking from a beginners point of view and may change my mind in the future.  I do not think I will though..

Thank you all for your time my friends.

I meant to be able to use an area for multiable, repeatable strokes, not a seperate course or facility,  put it with the random pratice rounds we use now.  lobsterboy explained it as i should have, thank you lobsterboy.  my nickle.

disagree, as i said new equipment must be tried out to gain enough knowledge to use it correctly and to your advantage.  My nickle again.

Just not true ... timing your meter is about pixels ... where to set your backspin is about pixels ... how a particular wedge plays a flop (my Clevelands hit way different to the other set I had) is about pixels ... learning to draw/fade is about pixels.

I was all for a driving range/practice green/sand trap, but the idea of being able to hit multiple shots while playing a course is perfect. WGT SHOULD ABSOLUTELY DO IT.

And here's how they make money ... place ads on the screen every 10 shots. Just like Pandora does every 10 or so songs with their free account.
