Tip:  ......go into USGA 2013.....select Merion ctth.....exit out of game and go back in...in practise mode.

Not sure what you mean here tbe.  I started a CTTH game, quit and went back to the game window but there was just the option to play as CTTH again.

Any chance of a step by step guide to opening that back door?

Happened to stumble across this USGA  meaning & definition on their Museum website.

The 1952 definition of a flagstick as a "movable straight indicator with or without bunting or other material attached" allows courses such as Merion Golf Club to use wicker baskets instead of a flag. (USGA Museum)

They're gone!  ...at least in the Michelin Challenge.  The Kiawah sticks are in the holes.  The basket shadows are still there.  Odd.

I'm still getting baskets in RR mode.
