Ish, my apologies for my creating more out of your words than was intended.  I've just read so much about VEM, mostly from very badly informed and occasionally quite demented people that occasionally the red mist descends.

I do have one quote from your last post I'd like to take issue with though:

    ISH47:

The variables built into this game make it harder for new players to learn. THAT is also a fact.

VEM only kicks in when your standard of play reaches a certain level, not when you're starting out.  Players like CiB may well get shots that are sent astray due to VEM because they're good enough to trigger it.

What new players learning the game experience and often falsely call VEM, is club imprecision.

And in all honesty, shouldn't it be hard and take a long time to learn?  I know I enjoyed the challenge each new tier brought.  If it were like T.W.O. I'd have stopped playing within a few weeks due to boredom.

No worries.. accepted, but not necessary..

When I say new player, I also include myself because I've only been here 77 days. I'm not any good, but I have shot a couple rounds in the low 60's, a 35 on BoP5's, and made a few bucks in some RG's. The latter being extremely hard to do because of all the multi's and re-starters.

I'm basing my opinions on my own experience.. I think I can tell when there's something hinky going on with the gameplay.. Usually that's when I'll WD and save the hits on my balls, come back and try later. I've had stretches of 2-3 days like that.. Then I'll shoot the lights out for the next 2-3.

I have no problem with the gameplay here.. I'm a gamer, I'll figure it out. So will Mr Montoya.

I respect your opinions MM, please allow me to have one on occasion without feeling the need to challenge my intelligence and we'll be cool.

Are we in hell or not?

I recently entered a bracket tournament, tierless 18 hole at Merion. Moderate gusts of wind, tournament greens.  During the round I can remember missing -- they lipped out, IIRC -- at least two putts inside of 4 feet.  FOUR *&^%ING FEET!!!!!!!!!! Missing putts that short literally makes me feel like I am in Hell.  And I think that is one of the things that pisses me off the most, the lack of consistency with the short putts. You have a putt that appears to break, so you aim just at the edge, and then when the putt doesn't break, it lips out and you're left cursing like a drunken sailor cause you just made bogey, or you missed that shot at Bird. So, you remember the missed putt, and you get another short one that appears to break, but you remember the last one didn't break. So you take aim dead center, but now the putt actually does break!!!!!!!  And once again you curse up a storm cause you've just made another bogey, or missed another Birdie, and that flop shot from just off the green or that beautiful 7 iron from 156 yards out is completely wasted. Its just frustrating that despite the fact that there is literally ZERO margin for error on the greens, thousands of players on tour have figured out the putting stroke while I'm curled up in the fetal position, crying and sucking my thumb.  One of these days I'm either going to finally figure it out or just rage quit the game forever.  I just don't see a middle ground.

You gonna be alright boss.. just stop worrying about it and it'll fall into place.

If you want a CC to join, please come join ours.. we're a relatively new club and we're struggling to find good folk like you that wanna play and get better at the game.

We got some good shooters, and at some point, we gonna make some noise.. haha
