    dedBuNNy:
You have to be insane to load in a credit card number into the purchasing system here.

Well I guess I'm insane then. 5+ years buying credits off the same debit card number-ya, that's right, debit card as in direct link to my checking account-and I'm as afraid today as I was when I entered it into the system.

    Paranoia knows no bounds.........

Thanks PR for starting this thread.  It's  logical that your post would take the turn it did, 'Hacked Financial Data' ...transactions...security....Is Your Data Safe..... there's a common denominator in there somewhere.

Speaking for my techi ignorant self, I wouldn't have known how easy  -it seems- for hackers to hack, but for the information on this thread, in particular the posts by Fatdan.

Putting my bank card information on here wasn't insane, just plain stupid!

    dedBuNNy:
All I can say, and not wanting to derail the thread anymore that it has been, but; Given the partnerships WGT has entered into and by aligning themselves with companies who are known scams and known within the on-line security industry to be dumping malware, spyware, one is actually part of a bot-farm.

So what it looks like from where I'm reading, the policy/attitude of WGT to advertisers is:

Yes, WGT will display your ads and offers at our best rates, we may or may not check if you are a scam (or that you spread malware etc), but not to worry, our members should be clever enough to notice, so send us your best product promos and we'll see how it goes.   $$$ ding ding ding.

    PRStevenson:

My post was originally intended to try and find out if financial records/data have gone missing but 6 pages on we're not any closer to finding out. Icon said not to his knowledge....well that's comforting.

As for the rest of the thread it seems to have been hijacked with most comments discussing security and transaction advice (which while helpful was not the purpose of the thread).

    PRStevenson:
I've recently heard from several different players that a considerable number of financial files held by WGT have been hacked and information stolen!!!

Have you thought of asking your 'sources' where they got the information?

    PRStevenson:

I know what you mean Chris. I'm not so vomit-inducingly sycophantic that I feel the need to always defend WGT. I think it's out of some misguided sense of loyalty or the feeling that by always defending WGT that WGT will consider them 'one of their own'. As for me, I think I'll pass on the WGT orgy.

Obviously, I have never seen a positive or helpful post made by you...I hesitated to get involved in this thread as I knew it was more about spreading a rumor than about getting an answer...

My post was originally intended to try and find out if financial records/data have gone missing but 6 pages on we're not any closer to finding out.

Actually I answered your question in my 1st post on page #1, and again on page #2, I can't prove it so why accuse anyone, but I'm 100% sure where they got that card #...you must have missed it thinking it didn't fit your agenda!

As for the rest of the thread it seems to have been hijacked with most comments discussing security and transaction advice (which while helpful was not the purpose of the thread).

There is a lot of great information in this thread for people who do not know it already...based on facts not rumors....so even though it was not your intent, this might be the 1st time you helped someone else, good for you!

    I'm outta here!

fatdan I said it was helpful what more do you want? A little gold star and a pat on the back?

Once again you're being over-sensitive and looking for something to take offense at.

The thread was about finding out if other players had received similar information or knew more details and if anyone knew whether WGT was officially responding to this information. It's not rocket science.

Your post on page #1 isn't an answer you just posted about a related incident and page #2 you didn't post anything!

As for the rest of your comment (quoted above) I don't know what you're trying to say? Just seems like you're very confused.

    I acknowledged that

We don't know what it's based on? That's the point. One which you missed.

    fatdan:

I think I made my intention clear from the 1st post, you're the only person who seems incapable of grasping it. I'm delighted if someone has made sense out of one of your comments, if it helps someone in the WGT community that's great.

    fatdan:
    I'm outta here!

Best news I've had all day!

You're welcome. It came from several different players at different times whilst playing multiplayer rounds. Many of them had also received the information (or rumour) in the same way - via the in-game chat and most were just as interested in finding out whether there was any truth to it or not?

    dedBuNNy:
As far as details from WGT, they're not going to say anything on that matter. I mean c'mon, first off other than saying 'yes, all data is safe and secure', they're not required to start handing out details with respect to anything to do with data security. I'm sure any mod coming in here even remotely discussing data security would be fired instantly on the advice of the law firm WGT deals with.

I think you're exactly right. If it is a rumour, then it should just blow over. If there's any truth to it WGT could deny all knowledge and tell everyone it's a rumour anyway, but then if it were to surface that they were trying to bury the truth or deny it that would break down public trust. However if it was true and WGT knew that this information was going to come to light I would expect that they might make an official WGT announcement so that their customers would hear from straight from the horse's mouth before the complaints start escalating.

Try this again, has WGT made it so your CC number is not stored ,and you have to type it in everytime?

For those who worry about your Credit or Debit card just use one of the Gift cards that WGT accepts. I have bought credits with a Subway gift card before.

Or buy them through the mobile game from your iphone or Ipad. Buying them through the mobile game from your phone or Ipad  you are actually buying them from the Apple App store not directly from WGT. Beware when you buy them this way you are charged sales tax.

    OK, I'll try this AGAIN!!!

For anyone who is worried about scams and putting in card information etc please find a thread about that.

This thread was never about that until it got derailed. I'm not saying the information isn't useful, for the technologically challenged it IS really helpful to them so on behalf of those people thank you SO MUCH.

BUT repeating the same thing over and over and over and over and over AND OVER isn't helpful for the purpose of this thread, which was to ascertain whether customer financial data has been compromised or not???

That's it! Plain and simple, so let's try to stay on topic. It feels like I'm the only one who is concerned about this financial data being stolen (maybe that's because everyone else is using Subway tokens or cutting out coupons from pizza boxes?).

WGT does take debit/credit card information and I imagine a large proportion of their customer base use their cards through this site trusting in WGT to keep their data safe.

IF our data is NOT safe I think it's a pretty big deal. I'm also surprised by the attitudes of some people calling others stupid for using their cards on this site. If that's the case what are you indirectly saying about WGT and their ability to hold financial information securely? Or is customer confidence in WGT SO LOW that everyone is just biding their time until an alternative to WGT is up and running?
