    MioKontic:

Every course is challenging, just depends on what your challenge is.  And -2 in that event is huge when you consider some of the scores that have been posted.  I see you haven't done it yet... or did you simply not make the first 5 pages of the leaderboard?

LMAO you like picking fights don't you... first five pages lol... If you were smart enough to check my score history you would see that I haven't played it yet

I'm only a Master, but played off the back tees and with tournament speed greens.  I only have a 275yd driver, Rapture irons and GI3-S balls.  But I still scored -2.  I bet that will beat quite a few legends with their superior equipment.

Sorry, but -2 would have gotten you squat in the USGA Virtual Championship Qualifier

You would have needed -6 just to qualify, -4 would have gotten you into the top 250.  I'm not sure if the green speed is the same in the current USGA Oakmont tourney - I can tell you the green speed in the qualifier was torturous.

Your equipment isn't too bad, at the time of the USGA Open qualifier, most of the good players were using your driver and one of the best ever, Iconian(AKA wgticon), was using the rapture irons and I don't believe he was alone.

Granted, the open qualifier was unlimited, so keep on playing and maybe you will get to the point where you'll be able to best some of the better players. GL...

Many of them only used the 270 yard  G10 driver. There was a big debate around that time about the length of the 275 yard R9 vs the Precision of the 270 yard G10. And many of pros couldn't make the grade then as were our 255 yard Rapture or 272 yard G15 just didn't get us close enough to the greens to score well. And Mio the greens now are fast but even though they are both tournament speed the tournament speed the greens then were much faster than the tournament speed now.  The best I could do then was + 15 85. I shot a +1 71 in the one time I have tried it this time and that was only because I was having to fight an unresponsive mouse. Before the mouse went haywire on hole 9 I was -5 through 8. -5 for the first 8 holes with a decent mouse and a +9 for the last 10 with an unresponsive mouse. Never figured out what the trouble was. I replaced my batteries thinking the batteries might have been getting weak but that didn't solve the problem. After the round I logged off for an hour or 2 and logged back on and the same mouse worked perfectly. There might have been some sort of interference between the mouse and the bluetooth receiver.Though I have never had that problem before that wasn't weak batteries. Or since.

That's old??? My youngest daughter is a high school teacher with about 10 years experience. And I  was over 30 when she was born so you can figure out how old I have to be.

I think st a is best suited for people with starter clubs as pitch and run shots just keep on rolling while on the other courses you are playing target golf and must use backspin to stop close to hole .Feel free to disagree .

    Craig,

Well I'm gonna take you up on your offer and respectfully disagree here.  Here's why.  I feel that the most difficult part of the game is putting, and I feel that St. Andrews is much more difficult to putt on than Kiawah, or even Bethpage.  Since we can't break down the stats by course, I have no proof of it, but I would bet that my putting average is much lower on Bethpage than St. Andrews.  I feel that it's vitally important to stick it close to the pin on St. Andrews otherwise you could be putting from 55 feet with 2-3 breaks.

Now, getting on the green at Bethpage is more difficult, but once you are on, it is usually a fairly flat putt, or maybe just one break.

Based on all that...I say Kiawah is the easiest course to play, as it's shorter than Bethpage, and easier to putt than St. Andrews.

    good golfing,

    -Long

The Opens were played on Championship greens, whole different animal. I beg to differ with you Long on your putting rankings. Scoring maybe clouding your judgment about Kia's greens. Easiest to hardest to putt : Bethpage - St. Andy's - Kia - Oakie. So many holes at Kia have tricky little breaks right around the holes (bugs lol) that even for the very best here still gives them fits. St. Andy's is such an easy course that the only way the greens are hard to putt is if you are very far away, which most good players never see too many of those putts imo. To the guy who shot -2 in the Open qualifier at Oakmont, we all were masters at that point. -2 in an unlimited play format, is well not very good, no credit there lol. JB

A nice thing about WGT is the contrast among the courses. St. Andrew's and Bethpage are about as different as two courses can be. Bethpage is like a chess problem, with one line of play, while St. Andrew's is like a chess game, open to all possibilities.

JB the finals were played on championship greens but the unlimited qualifier was played on tournament green speeds and the tournament greens speeds of this tourney are slower than they were in the qualifier. I have no clue about championship speeds as I didn't qualify. And not all of us were masters then either. I was a pro at the time and didn't make master until the last day of qualifying.

Need to read a little better sir, I said the Opens were played on Champ greens. Never said anything about green speeds in qualifiers. From what I know tourney speed is tourney speed.  Ok, everyone who qualified for the Opens were masters except for one "pro". Did I pee in your wheaties somehow? If I did, sorry. JB
