    Solarflares:

Your stats indicate that you are on the brink of a breakthrough.

Stick with it. Nothing wrong with your equipment - although I'd prefer to see l81 Nike balls or even RZN platinums.

The credit to you is that you play all the courses and , because of this , understand that the learning of shots can become  secondary to learning the course and it's particular foibles.

Too much going-on at once IMHO.

Take one course and play it a couple of times.  be honest and analyse exactly where you are failing - then see if you can't improve that score with your raised-awareness.

Thank you Solarflares and everyone else for your input. I will take this advice to heart  and go back to the drawing board. My short game definately needs improvement. I never have been able to get that wind down pat. Practice rounds I do very well but when game time comes it is never the same. Thanks again for all your help.

I'll chime in...based on your stats...

GIR's...that's up to you and the ding...same with driving accuracy..some tricks for both..

Say you have a tendency to hit late or early..or both...try this...

On right to left winds try to ding or be a scooch late

On left to right winds, try to hit a scooch early of the ding lines.

Scrambling and sand saves...here's where you are losing a few strokes, based on sub 50% saves, means a bogey more often than a par.

So, that's all down to your short game as has been mentioned before...

So, head out to the Best of par 3 course and purposely miss the green...purposely hit into the sand traps.

Now, try pitching on to the greens, pitching from the bunkers, flopping, chipping, etc...just do it over and over and get a feel for how your wedges respond to each situation and length of shot.

Once you improve your short game, scores will drop.

Once you improve your GIR's, scores will drop....once you get this fine tuned your Distance to pin should start coming in closer, and you'll have shorter putts.

ONce you are satified you can hit all greens in regulation, then you start looking at the best place to leave the ball, for the best putt.

I/e...take BPB #15...would you rather be 5 feet right of the hole, or 15 feet below it?

    Good luck.

At first this was alittle confusing to me. I have been shooting at St Andrews to practice the wind. After a couple of games the examples you gave started to click. I have been getting good shots with wind in any direction leaving me closer to the hole with better birdie oppurtunities. Finally shot a 65. should have been even lower but had 3 putts rim the hole and go out. your help has been a God send. I need to buy more nike balls soon.  Thanks again for everything

You're probably at the point where you will have to 'pony up' some cash.  I've had to improve my driver and putter so far but refuse to spend any more money on this 'game'.

The cursed 'shaky meter and inconsistent metrics keep my pocket book closed.
