Yes this is a game, but it simulates many of the attributes real golfers have, in terms of shot results. That is exactly what has kept me playing.
It is not a game you can clock in 2 weeks, for me it is always a learning process.
Yes there are bugs, crashes and issues, but 98% of my games will finish as I play with friends and use workarounds. No I should not have to use workarounds for incompetent programming, but I do as I get a lot of enjoyment from the game.
Most gamers only see winning or beating the game as the objective, and therefore do not have the patience to master the game. Conversely most golfers want to challenge themselves - you can play with mates but you are still battling the course.
In other words, most gamers get frustrated as the cannot be an overnight success so they move onto another, easier game.
