TWOMINUSONE: Heres my reason for posting here. This shot is 176yrds away, 27ft downhill, with a 11mph wind right to left from behind the man. 27ft downhill is roughly 9yrds off the shot. I used my rapture iron with 170yrds distance full power, little backspin. I also put the pointer to the right hand edge of the green, and dinged my shot. From camera angle 5, you can see the ball didnt even attempt to go in the direction the wind was coming from, so i feel totally robbed of a good ball here.
I had something very similar happen to me on that same hole during US Open qualifying.
After weeks of trying to qualify, I was -11 and at the cut line on the tee @ 18.
I hit the fairway in good position on 18. 228yds, down 35, to the
pin. A 5mph wind at 9 o'clock. I got my trusted Rapture hybrid. Its put
me inside 10 feet many times on that shot. It crossed my mind to fire
at the pin. Just for a millisec. But I said I'd be happy with a 60, so
just take a 20 to 30 foot birdie putt and qualify for now. I give it plenty of room to the right, aiming towards the right edge of the clubhouse. That's way right of the pin and I dinged the shot!
The ball starts left at the pin then drifts more left. It lands in the rough 14 yards left of where I aimed! Then bounces straight left into the water.
Look at this replay,
Robbed on CCC #18!
Why do these kinds of things seem to happen at the end of a good round?
