JuanMendoza:
Thirdly, reading a putt is probably the most difficult skill in the game, and no software can do that for you.
The "putt for dough" quote comes to mind here.
Percentage wise, I reckon only about 5% of my putts from 5ft+ have come from dinging the putt. The times that I do ding it are far less, but a lot of those times the missed ding is intentional to account for the break.
I reckon if I was using an automatic ding program, i'd still be on amateur.
As an aside, the first ever 18 hole round I played on BPB (reputedly the hardest course) I shot a 62 as a Tour Pro. It will probably be a long time til I beat that "perfect" round - and it was certainly not perfect, I shoulda hit a 60 to be honest - so if I see a Legend shoot 54 on it I am anything but surprised.
There might be some people who cheat using ding programs, I dont know for sure. But they are only cheating themselves, cos hitting the ding is no way of guaranteeing you hole the putt.
